Title: Leaflets
Post by: richie on December 10, 2009, 06:08:03 am
Hi all,
Just wondered how many of you go down the route of leaflets.  I know some people do a leaflet drop EVERY month sometimes running into thousands every month.  What i dont understand is why some people turn out thousands n thousands of leaflets every month of the year even when they have been going for 3 years +.  Is there a reason for continuing with the leaflets?  I would have thought that over a period of 3 yrs+ the client base would have grown VERY high therefore leaflets would not be required any longer due to people using you again n again & telling their friends n family how good you are.

Richie.

I dont know about other people and we not been doing for 3 yers yet, but my quess would be is for expansion purposes as well as cheaper competitors come along and people leave etc. if you clean their carpets it doesnt mean they will be ringing you every 3 months all the time for the life time. We run cleaning business too so for us leafleting and direct mail is essential part of the business, it creates bigger customer base etc. Also doing it every month is a good idea because may be one month people dont want it doing but then next time when they see your leaflet they will do. Is having your name out the at the right time in the right place.

How long you been going for? do you do any leafleting?

Better to get a data mailing list of the profile of the sort of customers you want to attract in given post codes for example 23-55 year old ABC etc, always have an MPS/Mortascreen check at point of supply.

We would then mail out post cards in batches over a given period say 1-2 months with a code on them and monitor the response from each post code.Depending on the size of the data you have requested you can spend a good few hundred on postage as well but this is far more reliable and you know its getting there.

Costs a few hundred to get the data at first but you can use time and time again and just a few jobs can recoup the outlay.

Door to door leaflet drops are too unreliable and usualy a waste of time and effort, you have no control over where they are put if inside a free paper , you could do solus drops but this would work dearer in the long run than the above and with out the results.

Employ your own leaflet delivery and pick the exact roads you want them going down. Cut the cost in half by getting someone to go in with you.

Ive said this before but leaflets are not the Magic Bullet

The problem some of us have is following through once we have customer

It is suggested we send monthly Newsletters

Operate Refferal schemes etc

And Yes we shoud

But again all these operation cost  hence the need for a high average order value
