Post by: daz1977 on December 10, 2009, 01:08:38 am
pleasre find below 2 pic of my carpets, that ,my 2 kids and dogs have destroyed, with all the lovely weather, there dinners and drinks,  this is the first caropet that is by both doors, so gets really dirty

my question is should i bother getting them cleaned or just replace them, as i was original going to replace them just before xmas, with a dark colour, but now might have to move in the new year 300 miles

just wondering what you guys thought i am best doing, as its a rented house

cheers

Id give it a go with cleaning first.  Get a decent company in (if possible someone off this forum in your area).  A good prespray.....POWER BURST (not micro-splitters) HOT water extraction and you should see a vast improvment.  In my opinion its always worth trying the cleaning approach before replacment.

Richie.

What size are the area's of carpet? If only small then not worth the expense of (trying) cleaning. Buy a cheap roll-end. Any one trying to clean that lot will not be able to guarantee results so you could end up replacing anyway.

If its rented and youve trashed them you will have to pay for replacement any way when your rental period is over.

Presumably you paid a deposit, this will not be handed back with the carpets in this condition and cleaning will not be acceptable to the landlord, best get quotes for replacement.

and whilst putting down a darker carpet may be practical, the health issue of dirty carpet is still there, perhaps more applicable if the area is where kids play on the floor.

its not where the kids play, it sort of the walk way, between the doors,  its just be ruined by the dogs and kids walking over the grass then in to the house
