Right this is what annoys me here and i know i may annoy a few of you in the process but how can you actually SELL up a round window cleaning? Im being serious here, you can sell your business as its got a reputation but you cant sell a round on, you may sell it and the buyer could be a dickhead and then the round is lost. If you want to be a window cleaner you earn it and build the round up yourself, simple as that. Sorry if ive knocked a few cages around whilst saying that lads but i feel its better to work at it yourself, fair enough sell a few houses on for what they are worth in a month but after that forget it. This guy looking 10k for 80 custys a month is having a laugh too!!

I met the guy in a pub in Kingston this afternoon. Seems really nice actually.Spoke to him on his mobile. Already given him £2 grand cash. Meeting again saturday. He's gonna show me his customer base then.
-
Oh! Thats odd, I met him this afternoon too and give him 3K :o :o
-
DOH..........I've been "had" I'll call him back............hang on.................I'll see what he's playing at. Nope not answering. Maybe he's watching Bambi with his daughter. I've left a message. I'm sure he'll call me back.
-
Come on lads..... Start emailing him questions. Ya know you want to ;D
-
Tell ya what mate, give me 3K and the round is yours :D
-
I've just asked him if he'd be willing to accept £50....£60 at a push. I'll keep you posted ;)
-
Tell ya what mate, give me 3K and the round is yours :D
You can almost hear it Mike, can't ya? I just hope some poor bugger don't fall for it.
-
I read the title and thought you were gonna say "Father Christmas" ;D
-
He'll have a very bloody Happy Christmas if he pulls it off. Someone will probably and up divorced, homeless, broke and bordering suicide. But who cares. Scumbag's minted.

mmm, whoever he is , is a shrewd shark . an expert chancer

You can sell work on even if its not as a business. I think of it this way. If I sell, I am selling a recommendation to use a person or company. I may have worked hard to gain a good reputation with the customers and they will no doubt trust my judgement on who I recommend to clean the windows after I finish. Admittedly my judgement is swayed by charging the new windowcleaner a sum for the recommendation to the customer. If the new window cleaner retains the good reputation I have built up he will potentially recieve many times the outlay for that customer.
It is not work that is for sale but a recommendation.

You won't know unless you try ::)
In 1997 I had a round turning over £1500 a week. I sold it for £30,000. This guy is asking twice as much as I did, but I ws in a hurry to sell

i agree ian, if you could get it then why not? i would seriously sell my work tomorrow if i could get that amount for it.
i just couldn't see anyone parting with that cash. if there is any, please email me and we can do some business ;)
-
Put an advert in your local paper - that's what I did and I had loads of replies. I split the round into three and sold each one as a going concern turning over £500 a week for £10,000
-
we've spoke before ian and i haven't gone down that road but seriously if i did get offered that i would rip someones hand off
-
"you are just jealous because you never thought of it but doint worry while im driving around in my new bmw at xmas what you gonna be doing?" For the record lads.....this isn't a reply from the guy today, it's from a bloke that was selling something similar on ebay a while back. There was a posting on here about 6 weeks ago.I had a pop at him too. I've only just seen his reply. It shut me up,lol.
-
If the guy can get 10k for that fair play to him.
I agree with Steve on selling round if it could sell at the sort of money.
I guess if you don't try you never know..
-
Would you invest 10 grand of your redundancy pay on a £500 a week job?
I know I would have done. You could pay that much to get through uni, and still have no guarantee of a job.
-
fair point Dai, but ya gotta ask yourself whether you'd borrow 10 K from the bank and alot more with it??? Not everyone gets redundandency. If it's legit, then great. But odds are this guy is a scammer. That's why ebay was invented, for people like him. Sorry, maybe it's me but i just don't trust them. I see enough people on here wishing they could turn back time, cos they've been screwed.
-

I agree
-
Don't think he's gonna bite at £50 :-[ "go and buy a butplug instead and stick it up your arse" was the reply. Think i might have to up the offer. ;D
-
He might have helped his cause if he said which area of Surrey and presented the ad a bit better. I assume it's Carshaltonish area after clicking Matt's link. Let's face it though, how long would it take to canvass a grand a month yourself. OK, it would take me a fair while because I have a fairly full workload that I need to service. But if I had little work, I could do that fairly quickly.
-

Is this what you say to your customers when they offer you a £1.00 for a £50.00
job ? ;D
-
I have only been on here for a couple of weeks and it seems to me that many of you hate to get good prices for work and hate people that are good at getting great paying work. Very strange
Dont think I will stay on here much longer
-
Probably ;D I think it gives an insight into the gentleman's personality though.

Who hates to get good prices for work? ::) as for part 2 of that comment...........we're just jealous. Hardly reason to walk out the door Johnny. Stick around mate. Wait til they start posting on Boxing Day when they're all bored stiff and tanked up on snowballs. Then reconsider. ;D
-
i personally wud never pay that, but around where i live that about the goin rate for rounds..i think it out of order but they u go. i bin offered a round that bring 1k a month for 7k! and it rubbish prices like £3.5 for 2up 2down house..really bad,but apaerntly that wat goin rate is for rounds around here...so im hopein to buy a round away from here lol

£250 a week not £500.

Its been nearly an hour and your still here ;D
-
Ian- you must have been bonkers to jump ship, i presume this was trad, how many men/days to run a thing like that?
-
For 10 grand you could get an excellent round canvassed for you and you would have enough left over for a nice van and wfp gear ;D
-
I rang this guy two days ago. He originaly had this work advertised at £700 a month and was selling it for £2695. That was under this advert
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDOW-CLEANING-ROUND-FOR-SALE-GENUINE-BUSINESS_W0QQitemZ120488854440QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_B_I_Business_for_Sale_CV?hash=item1c0db203a8
Then I saw this one advertised
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/window-cleaning-round-for-sale_W0QQitemZ110466559312QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_B_I_Business_for_Sale_CV?hash=item19b851ed50
He said he didn't know anything about the second advert but don't you think it's strange - same number, it strikes me as odd that he changed the amounts as well!!!!!!
Please tell me that someone isn't paying 10K for this!?!?!?
-
You'd like to think not Josh. The poor fella can't even spell butt properly. He only used one "t". Maybe he wants 100,000 for the round but forgot a zero ::)
-
He prob has read posts on here about how much you can sell work for. It will be standard practice soon if we keep taking about it.
-
So,could i in theory, go canvass a grands worth of work...........then ebay it, then make 10k tax free? Then canvass another grands worth of work, ebay it,etc etc. 8)

He'll have a very bloody Happy Christmas if he pulls it off. Someone will probably and up divorced, homeless, broke and bordering suicide. But who cares. Scumbag's minted.
the guy has 80 custys that bring in £1000 a clean
12.50 a house on average doing 2-3 bed houses
sorry but in my book that is easy worth 10 x
otherwise what is??
Its about 2 days work at the most for a guy wfp or with helper could take about a day!

Yeh i bet you have ;D I bet alot of people have. We're sitting on squillions lads ;)
-
If he can get 10k for it then good luck to him. It's only worth what someones willing to pay for it and if no one bites his hand off then he'll find out that it's not worth the money he thinks it's worth.
Personaly I think it depends on how well established and how compact a round is, whether it's worth paying decent money for. If someone was selling 2k per month that they had been cleaning for about 10 years all compact and well priced then I would pay upto x10 for it(if I had that kind of money) because in less than 1 year you are in profit and hopefully adding to it. If it's all done properly with a proper hand over and explination to the custies then I would imagine the vast majority will stick with the new guy.

80 houses in a day?
-
I did ask what part of Surrey the work was in. I wouldn't have paid what he was asking but bear in mind that is his opening gambit. It's all open to negotiation. Certainly wouldn't have parted with any money before seeing at least part of what's on offer and obtaining confirmation from some customers.
It's irrelevant for me anyway as it's the wrong part of Surrey.

There's a world of difference between £1k worth of established proven work and £1k worth of newly canvassed work from a canvasser.
The new work will rapidly dwindle by at least 25% and a lot of the remainder will be anything but "cream"
My buyers bought my businesses because I could prove they were established, regularly worked and actually produced the money I said they would in the time I said it would take.
They each went out and started turning over £500 per week from day 1.
If you'd just been made redundant from your £15k job, and you got the chance to spend your redundancy money on a new job guaranteeing £24k would you say "Nah, it's not worth it'?
::) ::)
