How long has one pound rule per window existed. From how far back can anyone remember? Maybe its time to move the pound on soon. The one pound rule per window should only be a guide
-
I'd like a £5 rule to be introduced, with a minimum charge rule of £50.

Sounds gud to me

i found out about the £1 rule on here, before that i was guessing how long a job would take . i`ve noticed that some prices have doubled in the last 10 years of window cleaning

The question is, what counts as a window?
So I prefer to charge 40p a pane, so a double pane window would be 80p, a 3 pane £1.20 and a 4 pane £1.60 but even then there can be very large panels, so using the width of one of these panes to guage the price for a large pane.
This also helps on conservatories

I just do a £ per window, if it needs two ladder lifts or would if it was first floor id do £2, Three £3.

I've never used that rule, too many varients to consider. See how long it will take then whack them for what your hourly rate is & add a bit more just incase! ;)
-
I do a €1 per pane (Some bays near me have 12 panes, so I do them a bit cheaper!) guestimate when looking at a new house. Add it up that way & then try to figure how long it will take & multiply by my hourly rate,... the highest figure wins! :)
-
Nathanael I have got a house with over 800 panes ;D
I'd charge £800 then.
-
I charge £1 for what I can reach without moving my feet much the same as the ladder theory.

You'll always be a 1 man band with pricing like that!! ;)
Obviously Georgian windows would run at a different rate,.. but on your average house that's how I'd charge. Sometimes a 2 pane window would only be €1.50 if its small,... ;)

weve a long way to go to hit the £1 rule ;D ;D

sometimes the £1 rule does not exist with me, ... i have to look at a job and price it by the hour, otherwise i would have to charge over the top rates, as sometimes there are too many windows, even on an average semi..... to price by the window... and i would not get any of the jobs i quote, in these cases.
if i think a normal semi might take me ten minutes, and the next one has a couple of extra windows, or an awkward one, i just add a quid or two on.

I am pleased to see so many guys thinking, I like the posting of Pure and Clean as well as Mac Mac and is of particular interest to me as they show growth in there thinking. The one pound rule has always worried me as it could become a rut pricing habit. There are to many variants in the rule and size of widow does not seam to count. The larger windows are more work .Yet small windows higher up is more risk.

Forget the £1 "rule" on larger commercial jobs. You won't even be close. On larger jobs with decent access, you wouldn't need to charge that anyway.
