Title: how much hose

hi all

im going to start buying all my bits to set up my wfp system and hope to have it running by end of jan. im going van mounted and was wondering if 100mtr of hose is enough for most of you or do you have an extra 100mtr to make sure. i`ve got alot of terrace houses and can be a distance round the backs. will get a trolly at a later date tho .

I can't answer your question ( I only have 60 metres of hose, with an extra 20 that I can join on when needed) but I do know that there is a limit to how far a pump can push water before the friction inside the hose causes the pump pressure switch to cut the supply off.

Lots of people on here have 100 metres - but 200 metres  :-\

thanks for the reply. i never thought about what the pump would handle. i might have enough with 100mtr. its just hard to tell unless i start measuring the distances round buildings

I have terraced houses with limited access to the rear and 100mtrs of hose has never let me down yet.

But that's not to say it would be enough for you. It all depends on the houses you are doing.

we dont do terraced houses, but we do use 100m and its always enough. a 100psi pump will handle 200m fine. go for 8mm microbore.

I use 100m of 6mm microbore with a 60psi Flojet - I get plenty of pressure and flow at the brush.

Ive got 100m and do a wide range of work and its always been enough mate

Out of curiosity - is there any particular reason that you use a pump with only 60 psi output?

Does it reduce the number of leaks from joints and connections?

If not, has it got any other advantages?

I have an estate of terraces and 100mtrs has never let me down, however I would recommend getting a back pack rather than a second reel of hose, that will be much more beneficial.

I would second that. Unreeling hoses all the way round the back of houses is time consuming and can be awkward.
