I was working away yesterday, when this gorg lass(20-21) gave me a lovely cute smile and a little giggle. There's me thinkin"put ya coat on Rodders,we've pulled" Then she says the immortal words..."you look like a ghostbuster" DOH. That on top of white van man every few days shouting it out. People walkin past whistlin the ghostbusters tune. I've had a bloody nuff lol.

get a saak truck, sod carrying 16L... will do your back in
Yes i used to get comments like that.... 1 day wearing it was enough for me
-
lol then you get a sqeeky wheel on your sack barrow. mine started it today thats when everyone looks at ya
jay

It aint the weight that worries me. I'm a maaaaaannnnn lol. It's the comments that make me feel 2 inches tall lol.
-
I never had any comments on a sack truck or just carrying it by hand.
Take the straps off and no one will know.
The backpack will weigh about 20 loaded, extend your hose to your pole.... I'd rather have comments about not carrying it on my back than a doc telling me I can't work anymore

I have a boiler suit for when its constantly raining.
I've lost my straps now, would have made a cracking picture.

Yeh only the REAL men on here like us carry the BACKpack on our BACKS
-
I value my health more than carrying a backpack to 'look' like a man ;)
Anyway, why put a handle on it ;) ;) ;)

So you can lift it off the floor lol
Do British soldiers have knackered backs after they leave the army?
Their backpacks weigh 50lbs, they also have webbing which weighs 30lbs.
If lifted correctly it will not knacker up your body.

well said window wipers. trolley for bp every time .think h/s guys.5 yrs time u ll be walking like the hunchpack of nortre dame
-
Don't know any soldiers sorry Matt, so can't comment.
I think the backpack is a cracking piece of kit, but carrying 20kg of weight on your back is going to put strain on your back and affect your posture.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't be used at all. Just that should only be used as a backpack when other safer options have been ruled out.
Suppose you could say its like the health and safety legislation regarding ladders.
-
Forgot to add....
Longer hose pole would be the 'safer' option
-
As mentioned before...i used to have a really bad back. Couldn't hardly get out of bed in the mornings, but once i had i was ok. Since using the backpack i don't get that pain anymore. I swear it's "strenghthened" my back muscles.
-
My pump packed in on my van at the beginning of last week so ive been using my shurflo backpack since then on domestic jobs, my back has been wrecked. My lads didnt protest returning to trad for a few hours. Got all back in order today though thanks to cleantech and im looking forward to tomorrow even thouugh we are out of domestics.

I spent a few years in the TA, does that count? ;)

I dont find it strains my back, looking up at the upper windows strains my neck though.
One of the reasons I bought the SLX, so I can stand further back from the window, and not wrench my head right back to see the window.

I can't believe that some of you guys are still using backpacks!! WHY??? Just get yourself a tank and a hose... problem solved, and no more looking like a plonker!!! ;D
-
I've got a tank and a hose, but some of my work is on main roads and i just don't want hose all over the pavement. It'll be an accident waiting to happen.
-
if u dont want hose all over the pavement and dont want to use the backpack for fear of being called a ghostbuster. use a trad pole! then some guys on ere will call u a cowboy!! ::) ::) :D ;D ;D

You must feel like numpty wearing a backpack and if you had a boiler suit on you would defo look like a ghostbuster ;D
