scimmy i was always told to put vasaline on the rubber to stop this happening, never tried it but you got nothin to lose.
-
I used to open the back doors and pour a kettle of hot water over the bottom of the side door in my Renault Trafic. :)
-
mine died last night when i went to quote a commercial job, it was my own fault i left the sat nav and the lights whilst chatting
i said i was just going to make some notes on the netbook and the guy drove off, i jumped out and got my battery out of the rear of the van and used my jump leads
this morning it started ok, but i knew it didnt like it
-
Mine starts luverly!
I put a new battery in it at the end of the summer 'cos it struggled last winter.
Don't half smoke though on tickover, stunk the whole house out. Do deisels have a choke of some kind or a valve in the exhaust? Whatever it is mine don't seem right. :-\
-
diesels don't have chokes, they often smoke until they are warmed up,even new ones

Egr valve if you have one works on exhaust emisions being put back through the intake.
Im hoping its this on my astra van thats causing it to smoke from jusnctions or labouring......
Mine also smokes to start, its annoying.

I think carbon builds up or something if you don't thrash the engine often enough, take it for a burn on the dual carriage way or motorway

Wish it was that lol, but its definately not. Well in a sence if its the egr valve its because it hads gunk and build up. But thrashing it wont do. Need to clean or replace. Just been to lazy (as usual) ;D

Mine's only done 30,000 miles, smokes like a chimney if I push it. Must be that valve thing - or cheap Tescos fuel.
-
had to bump mine off this morning had to get new battery
-
Glad I'm not the only one then!
Don't get me started on the COMBO side door issue!
Mine is totally random! sometimes opens sometimes won't. othertimes it's backwards.
Gona take the thing off and play with the insides!

are you sure you havent pulled the chimney off your house and your dragging it along ? ? ?
-
Actually for you guys with the side door issue on combos it is the riser lock on the inside of the side that is the problem. It needs securing in the up position otherwise it falls and locks the door closed.
This part, well it is on mine anyway

59 plate Transit Connect i'm bloody expecting it to chug into life everytime on these cold mornings
-
I found the redex fuel additive's not bad this time of year, my van's garaged at night but last year was a bit sluggish on cold mornings tried the redex and fired up straight off.
Had to put new battery in this summer and been o.k but where i am not been that cold yet really, only one frosty day so far. But it's only dec :'(
I hate feb worst month, think winter's finishing and bam, SNOW :'(
Lost a week of work this year.
