I used too,  I found it useless.

Someone told me the other week how many get chucked away without ever being unwrapped, the number is huge.

The only calls you will get is those trying to sell you a mobile phone or to sell you a loan !

I have advertised in YP for many years.  I have a 5cm display ad in two directories and they have always brought in a steady trickle of enquiries.   Older people (like me :P) may not be internet savvy and may never be, they are the ones who still use YP and Thompsons.

The also make the best customers ;)

YP/Thompsons account for about 15% of new enquiries, the majority of the rest come by sign written vans, seeing us working and recommendation.

We have a similar sized advert in YP, and get lots of work from it, recently picked up a commercial window cleaning contract worth £2800pa from them seeing us in YP.

Get a fair amount of domestic work from it as well as a lot that is outside our area which we then pass on to other cleaners.

Half page ad??   You got more money than sense? That would cost a fortune.  Go for a 5 or at the most a 10cm ad and use the money you've got left over to buy flyers.

Unless you are trying to attract some big commercial contracts, a half page will give completely the wrong impression.

i was right

i was missing out on 2 or 3 calls a day trying to sell me a new mobile phone or insurance  ::) ::)

im tempted to go for a small card size add next time at around 250 a yre.
