Title: Ground Floor Windows
Post by: darren69 on November 29, 2009, 09:12:41 am
Whats the best way to reach a ground floor window - there are a few windows which i will
be doing that i cannot reach the tops of them.

Do i need an 'A' Frame Ladder or use a small pole?

I use a little stepladder.
My partner helps me with the few jobs i have and as i can reach the tops of most ground floor one she cant she just uses a step ladder. But if you can nearly reach do what some plasterers do a get a milk crate it will just give you that extra few inches.

Darren

Get hold of a tall bucket (e.g. a DIY beer fermentation bucket, or similar), about 16" high, and put your (smaller) water bucket inside this one.

Then when you are on the premises, take the water bucket out of the larger bucket and turn the larger bucket upside down and stand on it to reach that extra 16".

That way you do not need to carry 'A' frames or 'step-ups' around with you.
Also, while travelling between jobs, any water sloshing around in the small bucket will spill into the larger bucket and not onto the floor of your vehicle.

if you have a van then you will prob have a pair of steps with you to take the ladder off anyway so id say just use a pair of 3 tred steps.

can also be handy for some commercial jobs on the inside.

I use a trad pole, as for standing on buckets, surely not the best practise. If you value your safety use either a trad pole or small set of steps.

A wagtail and short trad pole is the fastest and safest way.

imprinted concrete is the worst only clean when i have some one to foot the ladder lucky that its not took off around here, decking ok if laid the right way you can get the spikes in the grooves,i only have 2 houses laid wrong so i have them footed or miss them, dont find gravel a problem with spikes
