Hi Guys,
I'm new to window cleaning and starting out traditional methods but need some confidence.
I live in Nottingham and was wondering if i could tag along with someone that does traditional
for a few hours to show me the basics like squeegee and detailing?
it would really help me :)
cheers Daz.

Darren, if you don't get any offers on here you can always look in yellow pages etc and call a WC and ask. If someone rang me to ask to learn/work for free, I'd give him a run out for a few days or so.
StevieG is in Nottinham, but I think he only does WFP mate.

Darren,I was in the same boat as you in March of this year.I felt like I didn't have the confidence to do a strangers house without somebody with experience teaching me.The thing to do is just practice like crazy on friends and familys houses. When you first start using a squeegee don't worry about the fancy fanning techniques that you might see people doing.Once you've soaped the glass you need to use the edge of your squeegee to make about an inch gap at one side all the way down the glass. This gives you something to 'anchor' your squeegee to and you won't leave water lines. Then just pull your squeegee horizontally across the glass, wiping the blade after each pass with a cloth.Make sure the top edge of the squeegee slightly leads the bottom edge so that water passes to the bottom and lines wont be left at the top. Then go round the edges of the pane with a dry cloth.I use scrim personally, some prefer microfibre. If there's any specks or imperfections on the glass wipe them with a dry cloth also.Must be dry.You will need quite a few cloths so that when one beomes damp you start with a fresh one. With the smaller panes of glass that are above larger panes I just use cloth to clean them rather than squeegeeing them personally.Just practice mate,it will come to you.

Good advice there, you could also look on youtube and type in "Fanning window" or window cleaning. At least you will get some idea of what to expect.

Practice and practice some more thats what I did first house proper ended up a proper dogs dinner ended up a good custy so what ever happens dont give up .
If you get a problem try and find reason why then try to work out a solution .If you get really stuck ask on here
