Matt
-
hi paul, am still working on it, was talking to alexg about it, and he was interested, but have not seen or heard from him in weeks, so i will have to work down a diffrent route,
-
not booked yet..1 is getting back to me on monday to let me know when and the other i will just ring to let her know when i can do it. i may leave it till after xmas now as if its up to the job i wouldnt buy it till then anyway so maybe i can then hire it out for the day and if i buy it i'm hoping craig will then knock off the hire cost ;) lol..to be honest i'm more bothered about getting as much window cleaning done as possible before xmas then it's a month off lol..

hi jouk,
at least it's still on the cards and working then..come on fella pull your finger out ;D ;D i want one...

I hired it yesterday.
Very Very handy piece of kit, made mincemeat out of the 2 ft pieces of turf that was fixed in the gutter.
its just the case of loosening the dirt first with the agitator, then vac and then flush.
won't take long to do a 3 bed semi, I would say approximately 1 hour to lossen the dirt and to vac it.

What pole have you got p1w1?
-
did you manage to do it all from the floor matt and what pole did you use on it? was it rigid enough..what was the hire cost for the day?..

22ft slx mate

Its £45 plus VAT, yes I did everything from the floor, I had to reach over a full conservatory too.
The pole is a 30ft hybrid pole, you just leave to top section down.

ok mate thanks..next day of heavy rain and i'll use it as an excuse to pop up there..

Okay, well as you know dirt and grit are a problem. They always have been but it's worse on the slx because the tolerances are closer and they can become very stiff to pull out and close when dirty. The other reason its worse is that the pole hose is longer because we have never been able to use a pole this long for ground floor before and opporunities for more hose being on the floor are greater.
A couple of people have had an slx for over a year and they are still mint. These tend to have a hose tidy which loops the hose onto the pole, but i don't like this because it adds to the weight. These people also spend a bit longer maintainsing and wiping over than we do.The other issue with the slx is the black carbon on hands, the best suggestion i have seen for this is car wax.
I have a clamp that acts as a third hand that holds the looped spare hose and releases it quickly when needed. When required i run the pole hose through a cloth (microfibre but probably anything would do).
If you want a gadget to keep it clean split four inches of garden hose with some cloth inside and using a clip put this near the pole base prior to extending.Remove ready for re use when you extend again.

Thanks for the input slumpbuster i will try these ideas out and what ewan posted the other week.
i also used bees wax on all the sections last week over all the worn areas and really rubbed it in and buffed it up and have to admit it has made a bit of a difference i haven't really had any black hands this week and when the sections got wet dirt doesn't seem to stick to them as much it puts a thin coating on all the sections but it doesn't come off and clog up in the clamps it has also helped with the sections slipping in the clamps as they seem to hold better but i will give it another week or two to see if there is any real lasting benifits as i'm hoping doing this will help with the wear of the pole.

ok
im using ewans Velcro method Ive also removed the tape markers
from the poles (slx and supermax) i usually clean these poles
at least twice a week sometimes more but since removing tape
and attaching velcro i haven't had to clean them once
three weeks now still clean and slides easely
many thanks to ewan for the info its made my life so much easyer
and saves so much time top man!!
-
and the elastic idea :'( lol
-
works well jo hasn't come off since
robin
-
mines is still on, and no grit has passed, not even the sh%*% lol
-
ewan dont get me wronge, your velcro idea is good, even i am using it on my harris lol, and it does work, but it is not easy to clean it especialy if dog hair gets traped in it, or the smelly stuff lol my idea can be cleaned or flushed easily, apart from that exellent, and you know what w/c are like at spending money ;D why would they want to buy my device when a next to nothing cost idea is there, i did show alex the idea, but he has not come back on the forums,
-
realisticly around £8.99 but to get that price, i need to get them made in bulk, ??? or i can have them made localy, more expensive £12.99
-
yes, it does, what i will do is try and get some made, and let a few of you guys testl it out, i still have it on my sl-x and still no grit through to the pole sections, and as i said you can clean it out easily
-

Well if it does the job mate i don't think anyone would be grudge paying 12.99 just instead of calling it just a pole hose cleaner put water fed pole before it then that already means it costs more ;D. i would buy one if it really works.
paul
-
or test one out ;)
paul
-
ok i will make a few and see how they go, but with an economical idea like the velcro, i did not want to put money out if no one wanted to pay for my idea, i will give you all a shout soon as i am done thanks
-

hi paul, am still working on it, was talking to alexg about it, and he was interested, but have not seen or heard from him in weeks, so i will have to work down a diffrent route,
He's busy the whole month. He should respond to emails though.

ewan i must have missed the velcro thing.I have velcro. please explain simply how i should use it
-
£12.99 would be good value if it stops getting grit on the poles.
Would most certainly buy some.
So when you have some ready Jouk45 let us know..I'm sure if they really work with little hassle you will sell quite a few.

thanks steve will give you a shout,

I understand how it clears the grit, but when you collapse the pole what keeps it secured to the base and not twelve feet along the pole hose?
-
look at the video ;D
-
Yes i did as i posted joe, i didn't realise it was a link to a video.Cheers.
I think i'd favour something you stuck on just as you extended and took off as you collapsed.
-
thats ewans idea, i just added the elastic to stop it going down the hose, it does work though,
-
a complete solution would have to involve keeping the pole hose off the ground too.
-
OK slumpbuster but drop the idea of putting it around your neck. ;D
If you want to refine my idea slumpbuster work on attaching it to your belt/hip.
;)
But......you e-mailed and said you'd wish he would wrap round his neck, tight! :P
