Title: what scrims do people use?
Post by: bignick on November 26, 2009, 01:00:06 pm
Hi there, I new to the site having started up a small wc round 6 months ago.  I'm using scrims for detailing and polishing, but wanted to know what other people use (microfibre or other) which may be quicker and less polishing required?? :)

I think I'm probably the only one here who uses "deer leather."  All ze Guurmans use it and it's what I learned to WC with. They use a sort of rough scrim for polishing though.

me too. Can't be using my scrims right, they don't seem to do much but soak up all the muck and dirty water. Can't see how you'd polish with them. Maybe I'm too new to understand :-\

i use unger scrims for detailing /polishing and  theyre excellent  . I use  bits of old bath towel for sill wiping . i use the old bath towel if theres any scrubbing of frames to be done , i add Cif cleaner onto the towel .

i use the big flatweave blue microfibres for detailing and polishing, cheap" towel" like ones for sills and frames and i use damp scrim for little openers and georgian windows.my scrim is virtually redundant now but i like to keep a few in case i run out of dry microfibres on a wet day.ive used scrim for 15 yrs!doesnt feel right if i havent got at least a couple in the car!! ;D ;D
