I always try to leaflet after a job.
5 to the left, 5 to the right, 5 across the road - or something like.
Doing it today, and I was thinking..... I cant recall getting any calls from doing this, is it worth it.
Got home, sorted van ready for tomorrow, just sat down with a cuppa and the phone rang.
"Got you leaflet, I am 2 doors away to where you was today. Whats this 3 for the price of 2 offer".
I explained it, she asked for a price, job booked in to fill a cancellation on Friday.
So 5 around does work.
and the Friday cancellation is a story as well.
3 carpets totalling 40 sq yd.
She rang Sunday to cancel. Seen some carpet on the market £4 sq metre. She says she going to add £80 to my price and get new ones "the old ones were thread bare in places, and stink", she said.
Sounds like I had a lucky escape :D
-
are they ordinary leaflets you use for your 5 arounds?
or specially designed neighbour nudgers?
derek
-
Could someone send me a copy of a neighbour nudger? I had a cheesy one, but can`t find it anywhere.
-
My ordinary leaflets Derek.
from DP, heavy quality, double sided.
-
I had a cock up with my leaflets this month so had to use 10,000 of my five a round cards (the sorry about the noise cards)
they went out to areas where I hadn't been working. they still brought in lots of work and some customers told me they could here the T/M all the way to the end of the street, I've never even been there ;D ;D
-
Think they are the same leaflets as i had done joe :)
-
joe
you won't get much responce from using leaflets as a 5 around.
a 5 around has to be specific not general.
for instance
results from normal leaflets are from 1 to 8 per 1000 delivered so not much chance from 15 leaflets.
a 5 around points out that you have just worked for mrs jones at number 12 acacia avenue and if your passing, ask her what she thought of my thorough and courtious service. its more personal and specific.
if you want me to send you a copy of mine for you to have a look at just email me.

-
Wouldnt mind taking a look Derek, and anyone elses if they willing to send.
email address under my avatar
-
Derek can you post it here so we all can see it
-
yeah why not, i'm up for a laugh. not sure if the files too big though. ang on....

Every year I have a look at the way I do things and like to impliment something new to hopefully enhance my business or may life easier I look at this as free advertising (okay I know you have to spend on the printing) I used to do 5 around but as you get busier you drop things off which is a shame.
Please my I have a copy?

I think the important message that you've just cleaned a neighbours carpet is not given enough space
I would have used the full white block you have at the top to make a grabbing headline. but this is a minor point overall its a good leaflet, did Mark do it for you?
please tell me the back is'nt empty ;) ;)
-
That's a really good nudger Derek :)
As Mike suggested, I wondered why it was one sided ???
-
1.08 mb
not sure if it will load as a link but to big to display i think
here goes
derek
thanks Mike - will redo this and change it a bit to fit my own WC business. ;)
-
Very good Derek.
Not mad on dark backgrounds.
Thumbs up from me.
Rab.

yes the backs empty. understand where your coming from but in my defence, i have one message and stuff on the back may or may not take the attention away from that message, i get work from it so i'm happy. maybe i'll try one with something on the back but at the mo it will suffice. and mike, i thought it might be better with the attention on the first line being more outstanding but it was to late by then, when these have gone i will get mark to emphasize this more, maybe if you get time you could show me what you mean and email it back to me ;) don't ask ya don't get. lol
yes mark at dp redisigned my art work, (top man) and the wording all though slightly changed was from cleansmart.

ive given up this season, a man u scalp is probably all we can take from this season, can't see us doing anything else.

Is it just me or can anyone else not see Dereks neighbour nudger? Where is it? :-[

Dereks probably removed it due to gwcs saying he was going to copy it without asking first :)
but luckily I saved a copy, so who would like to see it again
only joking ;) ;)
-
email if you want a look rich
glad you saved it mike, only owe you about 30 more ideas and we're quits.
decided to remove it.
to many ghosts. ;)

oh right blame me..
If you put something up you HAVE to expect people to use it in any form.
The poster even admitted themselves that they copy was taken from "cleansmart" which i assume was a free marketing material piece? and as such will no doubt would have been duplicated many times over by anyone who had access to it. So i guess your right i should have requested permission from cleansmart ::)

Far too much wording for my liking - and like many others would , I have chosen to modify it in such a way is actually different from the piece posted and for a different cleaning aspect too.
-
nothing to do with gwcs. just didn't want tom dick and harry getting it.
derek

I just staple one of these cards from vistaprint to my leaflet and stick 10-15 around the neighbours houses...
-
Personally i think you should be careful giving out customers addresses to other clients with out asking them first, it's a bit of an invasion of their privacy.
I certainly wouldnt want a tradesman telling half the road what work I've just had done.
It would be ok to say one of your neighbours, but i dont think i would put down their number unless i had thier express permission to do so, and i dont think many of my customers would give it .

steve

i ask every time and so far not had a no. in fact most of my custys think its a great idea.

Yep like Derek I always ask and am very rarely refused permission! I sent out about 15 last week and got a job worth £140. She had asked her neighbour what I was like and if I had done a good job. £140 job for a few minutes walk!
-
I booked in a job and the wifey told me I had a leather suite to clean across the road, IF I did a good job of her cleaning. Neighbours often talk and tell each other about jobs/people they are getting in. Any one else give me an example of a neighbour nudger?
-

Fraser
You've probably turned it over the wrong way ;D ;D ;D
Know what you mean Derek but obviously the next question is..... why not use a piece of paper half the size and use both sides?!! Of course it works how it is, the message is there it makes no odds, just curious as to why :)
-
John
That sounds good with the nudger..
Also hows the website working with your video you finding its bringing in more work ???
cheers
-
Joe you are ment to leave them a bottle of stain remover.
This helps to keep the suppliers in business ;D ;D
Seriously does this idea work time and time and again to justify ordering 200 bottles on a regular basis
-
i do my own bottles and labels and use m/s 1 to 6 in it, works out about 80p all in. give these for free with every clean and free refills if they use us anually.
i also use the same bottle for my quotes and make sure i remove a couple of stains while there watching, a wow when i get the stain out, and when i tell them they get a free bottle after the clean i usually get the job. ;)
its all about what you can give in return for there hard earned money.

-
That sounds like a good plan mate... where do you get your spotters from?
-
all my own work, bottles bought with spray tops, 40p, labels designed by me and printed by printcarrier 10p, m/s mixed 1 to 5 about 25p. the look on there face when you give them the bottle, priceless ;D
derek
-
Solutions do the whole lot, so does Alltec, Cleansmart, Restormate and probably more.
It could becomre Dereks main business :D
-
go on then.

Derek forgive my ignorance, when you say m/s what do you mean?
-
micro splitter
derek
-
Again excuse my ignorance - you use the diluted M/s as a spotter then? I hope these dont sound like daft questions,I get a bit confused still
-
We have been experimenting sending posted fliers to neighbouring households when we have a carpet cleaning job booked well in advance but is at the periphery of our work area. They have to book for the same day but get a discount Only been doing it for two months and of course it's got to be a "Dear Householder" type letter but it's washed it's face Ok
-

yes
as per instructions on the original m/s label only 1 to 6 instead of 1 to 3
derek
-
Who sells ms to be diluted at 1:3 ??? might as well sell it by the tanker load ready to use ???
-
I find that if I mix it too strong it can leave a powdery residue on the carpet and also leave the fibres brittle.

for spots and stains gym, read the label.

-
Derrick,
witch lay bull ???
-
go on, i'll stick my neck out. take a punt, any ms lay bull gym. but for me its one step. 1 to 40 for general cleaning, 1 to 3 for spot and stain removal. i'd ring the manufacturers of one step if i were you and give them a piece of your mind.
derrick
-
If you doing bottles, follow the manufacturer.
Dereks right, One Step for spotting is 1:3 so hes playing "safe" at 1:6
-
OK chill Derrick :-*
Never seen a dilution that strong on ms instructions, was just a passing comment :)
