Hi all,
Lots of posts on here this morning, must be the rain! (already been out and rained off. Typical the sun is shining now!!).
I'm looking to build up my work a bit myself and I gather that door knocking and speaking directly to the home owner is the most effective method, as apposed to 10,000 leaflets. But I have a couple of questions:
BTW - I'm no stranger to door knocking, can easily speak to people and not afraid to walk far!
1) What are your opening words. I would say something like:
"Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a window cleaner expanding my round in this area. Are you interested in a regular window cleaning service?"
2) If they say:
Yes - obviously I price up and away we go
No - just say "ok, but may I leave a card in case you change your mind in the future"?
3) If they are out to you make a note of the not homes and call again or just leave a leaflet?
Does this sound ok or do you really recommend a truck load of leaflets?

That works for me mate. The only difference is, I leaflet an area a couple of days before I knock, telling them who we are and what we do. That means it's easier for my opening line "Hello, I'm from (My firm name), did you get one of our flyers"?
Doesn't matter really if they did or not, you've got the door open. Makes things a bit easier then, if you see what I mean.

Sounds about right, I dont canvass myself as I have someone do it for me and also got a 2nd person starting Saturday but this is preety much what I get them to do.
