Ok so i have nearly bought an omnivac . camera is something i am pondering about but will probably go to Maplins and the spike/powerpole is what i need info about as Omni want hundreds of pound for what seems to be just an alloy pole, so 3 questions are,
1. What is a cheap and decent alternative to the alloy pole and spike tool.
2. Where do you fix the camera , to the gutter pole or the alloy pole?
3. What is the best way to fix/secure these maplins cameras?
;D

For my gutter scoop I usee a cheap universal pole and depending what I have in the van at the time I use the same pole for the camera and the scoop or I take the brush off my xtel pole and clamp it to that, I use the bike clamps from halfords so I can clamp the camera to anyone of my poles.

Or .......

and .........

Polarvak boys make a tool that fits your wfp too for loosening the crud - about £20 I think.
-
yeah they do but its not a SPIKE like yours , blimey that could do some damage - where did you get that from and how did you fit it?
also
how did you attach the camera to the angle adapter?
-
Or .......
FTP Where did you buy your camera and does it work well under low light conditions.
-
cmon FTP spill the beans to the last 2 posts

Hello, I'm back ???
Camera came from Maplins with a monitor last year, what was it you wanted to know?
Works fine in low light conditions even works in the dark. Doesn't record though.
Oh yes, re read the post again, the camera is set in epoxy resin in the plastic angle adapter. The spike I made up, cut a thread on one end, screwed a couple of nuts on and again set in resin. Admittedly it could do some damage :o I made it that long so I could get it down a fair way in the 's' bend of a downpipe. Works quite well on its side too for spiking grass roots. These days I tend to go up a ladder for the 's' bend blockages or use a pressure washing lance. Omnipoles spike looks pretty scarey too whereas Polarvaks version looks more sensible although i've never tried it.

ftp wot height does your spike pole go up to? just normal size house gutters or 3 story?
-
Three storey on my SLX and higher on my Superlight although I haven't had to use it above three stories. Superlight might not be strong enough for spiking?
-
basically the parts are set in angle adaptors and then just unscrew the full thing and change onto next one?
your camera looks as if it has infared lights on it.
-
Yep, I just unscrew the bits when I need them. I've used the camera in no light at all and it seems to light the area ahead. Have to power the camera with a 9v battery and power the monitor with a 12v one.

Hi Guys, regarding a camera i have been using a mini wireless dvr from flyonthewall.co.uk...
cost £189 and records perfectly every time(colour) i have used upto 48ft no loss of signal? only down side to this is it does not take photo's, but this is a minor problem, plus the reciever is only the size of a palm computer, have a look it certainly hasn't let me down yet.
