as the title says
I will be having a part timer work for me soon 2 days a week
Ive been told by the tax office that if i dont pay him over £95 p/w
then i wont be liable for his ni or tax deduction.
but as i dont have to register myself as an employer do i need the above insurances.....

If you employ someone i thought you did the tax & ni, works out you pay them less than £50 a day which is rubbish.
Oh and if he is an employee, you will have to get the employers pl insurance, unless he gets his own and goes SE

less than £95 a week is correct. no ni or tax
you will need employees insurance unless imediate family.
Window wipers you dont know any thing about is employee age area ect so how can you say its crap?
50 aday is about 13,500 a year which is good round were i live.

He is 19 and at college 3 days a week and will work for me 2 days a week
considering the minimum wage for a 19 year old is £4.83
I dont think hes doing to badly @ £6p/h...

basically that is the threshold befoe you need to pay there liabilitys so if they have another job it is totally different they may need to more(if it takes them over the higher tax threshold)

If you have an employee (and if you are Limited then you are classed as an employee even if it is just you), no matter how many hours they do, how old they are, whether they are family or not, you need the insurance.
If you don't have employers and anything happens then you personally will be held responsible.
It is a legal (and moral in my opinion) obligation to have it!
It is not expensive though and for the peace of mind you will have, it is worth every penny.
National insurance and tax is different and your accountant will let you know what to do here. All I know is that if it a second job, they will already be using their allowances in their other wage packet and you will have to put them on full tax and NI contributions.

If you dont tell the tax man your paying a guy you can be held liable for his tax etc. because if he get 95 quid off you and 95 quid of others or he gets benifits you will be liable because you should deduct tax at source.

Ive been paying a part time employee £105 per week for the last 10 months,
I wish id have know this earlier.......he'd have been a £95 per week emploee :P :P
Only joking, seriously though I didnt know that.

Check out with New Employer helpline 0845 6 070 143. Just because you won't have to pay his tax & Ni, doesn't mean you don't have to register as an employer.
