Title: Pole Plastic end caps.
Post by: traps7 on November 18, 2009, 07:33:17 pm
I've siliconed a metal washer inside the plastic end cap of my pole because I seem to be wearing away quite a few of them no matter what make of pole.

I don't know if it will work or maybe just acccelarate wear on the hose but the pole I'm trying it on is a 25' SLX so what with the grit issue I was thinking I dont want that hole getting any bigger.

I know the caps are cheap but I thought I'd give it a try.

Just wondered what you thought.

could well work, or could well make the problem worse because of trapping stuff inside to go up pole.

Please let us know the outcome  ;D if it works I will do it to my slx  ;)

Update.....

It's been nearly 2 weeks now since I inserted the washer.

The silicone has come out but the washer doesn't move as it's a snug fit and has nowhere to go anyway.

As you can see,  the wear seems a lot more even and I haven't noticed any extra wear on the hose as yet.

The washered end cap is on the right and a few weeks old cap on the left.

Nothing out of the ordinary that I know of! It was about a month or two old I think.
