Title: Hessian Backing of Rugs
Post by: Paul Simpson on November 13, 2009, 01:49:53 pm
Just done a couple of wool hessian backed rugs.
Lots of water marks and staining on the backing as it comes from a kitchen. Tried various cleaners incl. de-browner for the water marks but nothing shifting it.

Surface looks good and customer should be happy when I return them, just the backing looks awful.
Anything you guys use that works or is there not a alot that can be done?

Cheers
Paul

Why do you need to clean the backing ???

Don't I suppose.  :-\
Just when returning to customer rolled up and all the staining on the backing still present doesn't look good.

Hessian backed as in a secondary backing layer?  Or a woven construction with a jute weft?

Should clean off with a power washer OK ;)

Paul

it is time consuming, and not cost effective.

next time you collect a rug like this, ask the client about staining,if it is an issue for your client,
give them an estimate to replace it[the backing cloth]
