Does anyone have any recommendations for the best product to use for mould and mildew removal? One of our customers has quite a bit of mould on a wall in their house (its a very old house) and wants us to try and remove it.
Thanks
Jason

Hi
Dettol Mould and mildew remover from tesco asda etc, around £2.57 for quite a large bottle, works a treat,, just watch it melt in front of you.
Careful it is strong and can aggrivate your eyes

Is it the dreaded Black mould that lives in old walls. Its really really bad for you. You can only see the sporing bodies on the surface the majority of it is in the wall. There are special remedies for it , but it should really be looked at by a builder ,because it is usually a sign of bad circualtion or moisture getting in to the structure.
You can kill the spores long enough to do other work in the room using a UVC lamp.

What about ozone - does that not kill the spores
-
Yes it will. But a UVC wand is fairly quick. I have an ozone wand that works particulalry well on smells but to get rid of all the spores I would use the big blaster; which means waiting time.
Actually I have dealt with this in my own bathroom using just the blaster, which eradicated the whole thing , but only after I had exposed the brickwork behind the plaster and stopped the holes up where the damp was coming in.
I couldnt use any chemicals as I try to keep a fume free house , I have a form of asbestosis and dont want coughing spells.
A while ago I found a really useful site concerning Black Mould, and learned a lot from it especially the different varieties. Now I cant find it. Will keep searching.

This is not the one, but might help despite the spelling mistake. http://www.toxic-black-mold-info.com/moldclean.htm

A bit of research I am doing about the origins of some moulds ...... do many people find it inside the toilet cistern?
-
Hi Debbie
Yep use it there also.
Used it today on galloping mould across a bedroom wall, sprayed on and as I was short on time (tenant was getting dressed) i wiped off with a builders sponge, in & out in 5 mins.
It's also excellent on bath tiles where the tenants haven't cleaned them and their bodyfat has gone off and the grout has gone orange and then mouldy also, in these situations I apply at least 3 times, sometimes overnight if the opportunity is there.
