does anyone do this in winter? is there much demand for this?
-
BNone - nobody does anything on their boat till spring - just as the drives start
-
i was told they pull the boats out of the water in winter and clean them up!! ???
-
done a few but to be honest i much prefer jet washing. some gutters are a nightmare to get too and i dont like using ladders. the vac cant lift out broken ridge tiles. i think i might just push the pressure washing further. may do the odd few guuters for my reg custys but not promote it too much.

gutter cleaning is a good job plenty of money in that.

Hi
We have a guy who's cornered the market at Brighton Marina, this guy is stacked out 365 a year., they usually come out of the water and then he has to acid clean and scrape to get the barnacales off and then clean with his power washer.
good money if you can get the work, as usual it will be slow to start and then once word of mouth kicks in you could get a lot busier, depending on factors like cost, funds available from clients, time of year and marketing strategy.

At Dover and Ramsgate the harbour staff do it as part of the lift fee, they just pressure wash the hull and that removes most of the growth and the soft antifoul. complete antifoul removal needs something like soda blasting but they all want it done in spring just as the drives go mad. The insurance was an arm and a leg. You need an isolated area with a seperator to stop the removed antifoul going into the sea. Practical boat owner brought in a fair amount of work but you'll not get rich - yatcht owners are tight, too mean to buy diesel so the won'y want to spend on cleaning, they got nowt else to do all winter so they scrape it themselves and just recoat it. they are refered to by the lifeboat crews as WAFI's -- wind assisted ??? ??? ??? ??? idiots

you doing gutters now mark? did you get a vac? some jobs are a ball ache!!

Sorry to but in, gutter cleaning seems a bit tricky to get the work for, even tho we have the vac and everything people just seem to think its a gimmick, thinking about it how many times have I cleaned my gutters in 25 years of owning houses, oh yes NONE. Think I will stick to drivecleaning to......

i know what you mean john. but i do get work but i dont feel confident as i do with jet washing. some custys say "the vac wont be as good as getting up there on a ladder"?
i reckon i can get the work but not sure if i want to be doing it?
