Got a call from a client of mine who says he tried to clean up oil/tar from a beige type carpet in a showhouse(wimpey if that helps). He tried the usual stuff he used but now finds lots of yellow marks in the carpet and has asked me to look at it for him.The stuff he used wasnt carpet cleaning but household product i believe and then he flushed it with a little vax with shampoo.I have informed him this is probably permanent but if anyone has any good ideas before i go please feel free to express them.Much appreciated Alan(swindon)

Without knowing what products he has used it is hard to suggest things, but by the sounds, it could be bleech based!!! and you would be right it will be permanant.

Thanks Paul I think i will just rinse it out and see what it looks like but its always nice to find the magic solution to a clients problem if possible.Regards Alan

Seems vanish leaves a pale outline on a stain after it has been used spec on lighter carpets ::)

May just be residue from the tar which he has been unable to totally remove. This would be a yellowish colour.
