Now, I have a 6ft and 25 ft prolong from brodex and they cover just about ever work scenario for two story work. they are solid, very rigid and i have no prob using them all day.
hope that helps ;)

Being aluminum the brodex pole should be more durable, but heavier.

Lots of people like the slx but it is likely wear out much sooner. If you keep the pole hose clean this helps, if not you may only get 12 months out of the pole.

You'll get a few years from the brodex, and it is heavier that the carbon jobs, but it's not like lifting a car over your head heavy ;D ;D ;D

Been using a 18ft Brodex pro long - excellent bit of kit - but use a superlite brush as these poles are a little heavy and you notice it when reaching over cons etc...

i have just got a 56 ft superlite carbon pole and WOW - it's so light !!   so i expect the SLX would be fab as well but how much day to day heavy abuse it would take is another matter,

anywho...   off tomorrow to try out the new pole on my bungalows!!    :P

If your going to use the pole your self, then I'd say the slx is best.  Weight and rigidity really do make a difference on your joints and fatigue level.  If it's for an employee and cost matters, then go for something else.

My slx is a year and a half old, it still has plenty of wear in it.

Ive got a Hydra brodex pole and its champion, cant see the problem myself.

I also got a SLX and thats champion too, but you do pay for what you get. i.e Carbon Fibre, its very expensive!

you can buy the 25ft and the 36ft hydra alloy for less than 1 slx and they should last twice as long , a fool and his money are easily parted ian lol regards alan

Hi
I didn't realise the Prolong I had was made out of Aluminum - it felt as though it was made out of cast iron.  ;D ;D ;D
Durable enough but I couldn't work with it all day.

Whatever you buy as long as it last nearly 2 years! Right the entire cost of the pole off in first year; buy your new pole in year 3.

Don't think you can wright the whole cost of pole off in one year. It's not valid for AIA is it? Plant or machinary? Thought it was still a capitol expense.

Anyway. why do it in one year? Better off keeping your profit as similar as poss year on year as you'll only get hammered with payment on account year after!

If its cost that matters, join the Guild (Pre-register for 2010 before December 31st) & you'll be in with the chance to get an SLX for FREE!! :)

The prolong is very heavy but the hydra is the new lighter version!
Great everyday pole, you dont need to wipe pole hoses all day long or even bathe it in the bath!!!!!

If you are happy to write a £500 pole off in 1-2 years Ewan, why did you gripe so much about the cost of carbon poles?

As Carbon Fibre is the right choice of material for wfp’s using any other material regardless of length of pole is going to cost you more in the long term.

The prices should come down as more CF poles are sold and seeing that’s where all the development has been for the past 2 years sort of proves this.
Nope  c/f comes into its own above 30ftish,alumimium is fine below that height and more robust, there is nothing wrong with the cheap Harris pole.
The prices cannot come down until the aerospace industry stops buying up all c/f stock
