Post by: Aquakleen Restoration Services on November 03, 2009, 04:36:00 pm
Anyone tried a chemical to remove outdoor cured silicone from doors and window frames etc?

Thanks in advance

Our Builders Initial Clean teams use Sabre from Solvitol tel 0191 430 1111. It's main ingredient is Dimethyl Ketone so you should be able to use that to get a local equivalent.

Ensure you use scrupulously clean wipes as any damage to the glazing will land you with a massive bill as any windowcleaner who does initial cleans will tell you.

A solvent based UPVC cleaner will do this.

Ours contains:
20% Acetone
80% Naptha (petroleum), hydrosulferised heavy

and works a treat.
