I was told its the labour thats the killer they have to remove the gearbox and the van will be in for at least 2 days my local Nissan garage was £100 dearer still think its a rip off.
-
Darren, did you phone any of the garages in the motor market weekly paper. I got mine done somewhere behind the Forge, and they came and picked it up from the house.
-
i paid £250 for a brand new clutch in my van 2 years ago. (an x-van)
-
Iam gonna phone round a few local ones in the morning need it done asap its costing £45 a day to hire a transit.
-
Same happened to me 2wks ago, sisters husband sorted it for £220. Went in on the monday morn, had it back on the tuesday though was with out it over the weekend as it went on a sat. All in all could have bin worse.

You're a carpet cleaner................only a couple of days work ;D ;D
I'd be concerned about the low mileage you should get nearer 80k - 100k from original clutch unles you're one of the people who " ride the clutch at lights, etc, instead of using the handbrake "
-
I think my driving is ok in 14 years this is the first time ive had to replace a clutch my last car was a Ford Focus had it nearly 5 years and still had the original clutch i got told these vans are trouble before i bought it should of listened.

Dont know whos more unlucky, you or mark d`Alcorn.
how did you gey on with the wand ?, have you got it back yet?
-
It could of been worse... My Trafic decided to seize its engine.. Cost be just short of £4k from an independant.... :( :'(
Shame really, cos I love it and its left a bitter taste now...

Clutch went on the old astra van,at home on my drive, didn`t have any way of getting it to my mates garage to fix ! Guess what i actually pushed it a mile from home so my recovery would take me there, pushing it through the village on my own ,was not much fun at all ! Nearly killed myself if i am honest, and did use the starter motor with van in gear at one point,as i was purple and panting !
-
Bob still havent got it but a couple of things have happened, drove the van to the Nissan garage this morning at 7am managed to do 25mph Arnold Clark are going to take photos and send them of to Nissan and they will tell me if my warranty will cover it 6 weeks left on it if i have to pay its just under £800 even if i get it done cheaper at an other garage Arnold Clark said they will have to charge me for the labour of stripping out the gear box its a no win situation.
-
Don't you have to drop the gearbox for any clutch job.
Took me and my mate a Saturday afternoon to change one
on a Suzuki Jeep.
That was using axle stands and a Haynes manual.
Mate is quite handy though as he used to be an engineer.

John the garage has got me by the balls they told me if my warranty dosent cover it Nissan wont pay them so they have to charge me the guy at the garage even said hes never known one to go at such a low mileage.
