No not the van ,thank fick !
Bought a new sureflo pump in feb, guess what, halfway through cleaning 2 sofa`s and an armchair, bloody thing decides to die on me,called Prochem, and they are only under warranty for 3 months (rubbish). So had to explain to my custy, who was understanding ,and said it`s just one of those things ! phew.
So got one on order this morn £170,ouch !
Question,i have a flo jet with a knackered head bit,as frost got it earlier this year, don`t suppose they are interchangable with the sure flo ?
So i could swap the drive units ? So take the knackered motor off the one that has just gone, and swap it with the good one that the frost got to ?
-
That will be a no then, completly different :(
And there was me thinking i had upgraded to a higher psi pump which was rated at 135 psi, turns out it still only runs at 100 psi, which i find quite annoying
-
3 months my arse, i'd kick up a fuss. thats bowlocks that is.
derek
-
I may be wrong but I thought everything had a 12 month warranty.
Did you reorder thro Prochem or have you got it from elsewhere?
-
Buy an endbell from woodbridge £28, job done.

Was bought through Olympic on 5th Jan 09 ! Spoke to the guy in the parts dept and he said stuff only has 3 months on it ! Which i thought was a bit off ! Only thing i have used with this one is fib and fab rinse, and double clean a few times !
The head of the pump was fine, still putting out good pressure,in honesty i had noticed it chugging a bit recently, tripped off the lec today, and dead when i re set the switch !
So must be a dead motor.
Going to call Prochem again and see where i stand with this,my heater was covered for 12 so why not the pump

Tell you what I find annoying is that you can buy a 100 psi surflow pump but in 12 volt mode (as used by water fed pole users) for £100
-
Yeah ! Did see them while doing a quick search, found woodbridge, £137 + vat and del,but used Prochem as was hoping not to have to pay them anything !
I remember the bloke at A+M said if you ever get any grief trying to send stuff back to Prochem them give him a call !! And he said he would deal with it for me,but it was bought from Olympic, also ceased trading ! And i need a working machine again asap, typically agy called me wanting me to do a 3 bed, today,so lost that one >:(

Hi mark the Shurflo's wear at at the bell end, this is where the bushes are, as mentioned only £20+ish. Two bolts slide old off and new on, piece of p once you done it once. Only problem is they will wear out faster as time goes on, due the hardening of the middle bit (forgot its name). But loads cheaper. If you replace the whole pump, you are wasting a working motor and head for £20ish investment. Get them from ashbys or woodbridge and get two at a time.
A lot of motors are made in china and so are crap now, like most things now available to buy
-
Will get it on order ,so i have a spare one :)
-
Well i must say i am impressed,my pump was here just after half 8 this morn ! Looks like they have changed the design again, pump is about twice the size !
See how much skin i lose trying to fit it ;D
-
Mark, you could have saved £100 by changing the end bell brushes, they do need doing every 3 months or so if your busy then the pump will last for years

Going to get a set and repair the pump i took out,so i have a spare one then, always got my toolkit in the back of the van,so could swap them on job,if it goes again, sorry when it goes again, got 3 sofas to clean now, will have to wear gloves as i have cuts all over my hands :(
-
Must say the new pump makes a right racket ! Really noisey, much worse than the one i took out too :(
-
That doesn't sound right Mark :'(

I have had only one pump gone on me in years after a lot and i mean a lot of hours.
You do seem to go through a lots of spare items mate ???
-
Yeah tell me about it Clinton ! Think this will be my 4th in 5 years ! last one was my fault as it froze, but they never seem to last longer than a year,i only use fib and fab in the tank, very ocasionally i put some double clean in,but that`s always diluted before it goes in tank,so it`s disolved.
Pump stopped making so much noise after finishing the first job, have done 2 x 3 seat 2x2 seat and 2 armchairs today, flipping hard work,my back is spasaming too which is not good, lifting my tool box one handed, while working on the wifes golf ! Now a 3 vw family, she is now thwe owner of a mk2 1.6 driver,so has gone from an 02 corsa, with all the bells and whistles,to a golf, which she can`t use yet as still waiting for the docs from the dealer,2 weeks waiting for v5 ! Can`t use it now anyway as doc said she can`t drive (Labrinthitus, infection of middle ear,so she can barley stand up without getting serious vertigo) Supposed to be seeing the daed weather tomorrow in Brixton, then mates 40th going to a hardcore industrial / goth club, called electro werx or slimelight,in Kings x,then it`s our offical 10 year anniversary on Halloween /samhain ! And have had to cancel our posh hotel we had booked, not much point if she is ill !
-
Mark, there were times when you just frustrated me, but I'm now starting to think you must have been one mad nasty barested in a previous life.
Like one of those cartoon characters, is there a black cloud constantly following you around ;D
-
Ha Ha i wonder that myself sometimes ! But the way i see things,it could be a lot worse !
I considder myself to be quite lucky ;D
Would my pump last longer if i flushed through with fresh water every night ?

Mark,
Thats seems about right 4 in 5 years if the end bell,(Brushes) are not been changed or checked a regular basis.
The bigger adjustable psi pumps do not have the same set up that is why some guys will be getting years from the same pump.
Make sure when you change the end bell on your old pump that you wipe out the old carbon with a dry cloth with a little solvent before fitting the new part.
-
Mark, going back to your earlier post about the pump only lasting 3 months and they wouldnt repair it, it has to be fit for use, and is covered by Consumer Rights surely.
How did you pay for it, if you used a Credit Card, and you paid more than £100.00 (might be £50) you are covered by that, get them to fight for you or just ring up your local Trading Standards office and they will advise you.
If my friend in Trading Standards buys anything for more than £100.00 or substantial she allways allways puts the deposit through her Credit Card. That way she has got them on her side if there is a prob. Thats what we do now, probably the only good thing about Credit Cards I can think of actually.

when I used a porty only, before my TM, I found pumps only lasted a year, any longer just due to good luck and the odd one would burn out in a few months.
-
Not just me then !
Didn`t buy last 1 with credit card,i won`t have one,too easily tempted to buy bad thiongs with it
-

So that's the excuse for that infernal wreck of a vehicle you used to go around in ;D
As for portables and pumps, I used to find the pump on my Woodbridge had a life expendancy of about 12 months. Don'y know if it had anything to do with powdered detergents, the heat or whatever.
-
Changed the pump in my Alltec pro in Feb, I date them when I fit them and it was last replaced in 2006, and I used mainly Ultimate master during 2006-2008. Yes I did flush with with cold water at the end of the day and kept heat down to 55c. The pump did actually still work but had lost pressure during the week I changed it, always meant to get a repair kit but never did, now have an airflex turbo so it's now my back up.

Mark
I would maybe invest in a new set up mate as its going to start problems and even start tripping out the clients electric ::)
-
Does not sound healthy does it !
Looking into it Clinton, need to pay off the van before i get any further in debt though :(
-
Maybe get a good used machine from your local dealer mate.
Just its going to start to spray water out all over under the machine if the pump starts to go ::)
-
Used it today and it was as quiet as a mouse ? Had a rug to do when i got home so i flipped the machine up and had a good look, all seems to be fine,no leaks, checked all the connections etc,all were fine ?
Think i might get another switch for it,and see if that helps.
Will order the rebuild kit next week so i have a spare one,as got a lot of work coming up !
