Post by: daz1977 on October 25, 2009, 06:16:59 pm
i know that the best way to get custys is to knock a area,  but has any one every reknocked an area say 6 months later and picked up new custy or do you just knock it once then move on

I initially knock an area twice in a week -  a weekday then an evening or weekend - i revisit every couple of weeks until i have had a 'NO' or 'YES' from 90% of the houses

i don't leaflet drop so only face to face get a leaflet/business card

i make a note of NO's etc - those who have a w/c or do it themselves - i never re-knock any house who i have seen face to face.

I do the same as above really, dont 100% make it back time after time. But I have re knocked the area about 6 months on with success. Mostly just to try fill out the gaps.

I have knocked an area that I know for a fact was covered 3 months before by two guys that used to work for me. We pulled an equal amount of work than the first time, this is due to the fact that you can never achieve 100% coverage and peoples circumstances do change. Its also a fact that some people say no cos they in a bad mood or its just bad timing. Its also not a sign of desperation, anyone that wants to succeed and expand their business has to not be afraid of a No Thanks.
GD I personally would see it as desperate if someone called a 2nd time after a refusal. especially in a few months

In sales you cant please all the people all the time......

When I go out to work everyday I know 90% will say no, some might think I am desperate to knock on doors in the first but thats just their opinion. Its called a thick skin, I dont care what these people think as I earn more than most of them. They will only ever see your presense in an area grow, they wont think you are desperate then. You guys should be prepared to do whatever it takes to grow your business and not worry if some stranger is going to see you as desperate.....

Well said. How many doors do you knock a day George? Is 10% success rate your average?

Very true. When I'm at a stage to be able to take my kids on nice holidays twice a year or treat myself to the biggest TV in commet, I'll not worry what folk think  ;D

My average is always less than 1 in 10 but thats our target figure, on certain estates is there is a lack of window cleaner or a poor one i can get it down to 1 in 4 or 5. Its all down to confidence and hard work

Just been out for an hour this afternoon, I know its not the best time as there wasnt many folk in, but I would say out of all the doors answered I got a better return than 1/10. Going out again later it could easily go the other way though, but untill you knock you just dont know for sure

I done my first 'knocking' yesterday afternoon for little under an hour, 20 houses knocked and got 3 customers that i done today and a possible 4th next month, 1 of the customers i now have on a monthly basis the other 2 were one offs but hey at least they have my details and i was seen in the park and im going back on a monthly basis.  I'll be doing the same tomorrow hopefully, thing is though i dont know what im going to do once i run out of the remaining flyers i give to customers face to face.

Just back in from knocking an area I'd leafleted last week, big dissapointment. I never got a single call from my leaflets and it seems that another cleaner has it pretty well covered.

But I'll be back out tomorow in another area. The work is out there, it's just a process of elimanation untill I hit an area that's in need of a reliable cleaner.
