Probably a 400ltr upright tank, as long as you haven't got a lot of other kit.

im thinking of getting a combo and putting a 300lt black gardiners tank in the back if itll fit?ill be DI only as i want to be able to top up on the job if im running low.35 tds round here.domestics only.plus TRAD gear in back.maybe a backpack as well.does anyone know if thatll fit in ok?im on a water meter so no waste with DI only and top up elsewhere if i can!![mums, girlfriends etc].also want to go straight for a slx pole for ease of use!

I run a Combo, 250 lay flat tank sits behind the factory built bulkhead, behind that sits an omnitrolley 50 litre, across from that sits an omni backpack on a sacktruck and in between sits 3x10 litre barrels, under the trolley sits 1x10 litre barrel and all my chargers, on top of the tank held down by a heavy duty ratchet strap sits my 100 mtr hose reel, 2 homemade hooks hang from the side panels near the back on each side, the end of the poles rest on these while the brush ends sit on the overhead parcel shelf. I work mostly from the side door.

I've got a combo van with 500ltr tank upright with the streamline system bolted to a frame i made , the tank i only fill to about 10"from the top it handles better like that.
i had a 500ltr so when i get a bigger van i'll buy another tank 500 and fit both in the new van , in about 2 years time . but the answer to you is yes a 500LTR will fit just rite only if its a upright. up the front and bolted to a frame wich is bolted to the van sub frame. if its upright it will miss the wheel arches.
im trying to get a photo so you can see how i've done it.

I know 2 guys with those vans and they both have 500 litre tanks, it does take you to the limit of the payload when full (assuming you don't way 16 stone or carry loads of other gear).
-
mine has the system in aswell ,its very compact you cant use the van for anything els. and the hose is fixed to floor , with the poles in a rack up high in the roof wich also reach over the cab part .
but everything is inside the van only the ladders are on the rack outside.
still trying to get pics on here , cant find the lead to upload the photos on to the comp. ::)

Thanks for all your replys!
Dean - check mail.
very usefull.
I've just finished waterproofing the floor with a nice slate effect Vinyl ! 8) classy ! trying to get all the glue off my hands now - like chewing gum!
For now, untill my new upright 400ltr tank arrives, I've flipped my 250 flat upright right behind the bulkhead.
I reckon there will be loads of room ish for my pressure wash gear too the way i've set it out.
Will give it a whirl.
Pictures to follow.
United utilities racking now for sale E-bay!

500 lt tank in a combo?seems way too much!!i think if i get one ill go with a 300 lt cos im 17 stone!!! :o so ive still got room for backback and trad gear.hopefully 300 lt will do me most of the day.i dont want a big van for a sole trader.can always top up using custys tap when DI only

I was under the impression vehicle manufacters worked out payload after the weight of the driver + in some cases passengers?
Edit. ots worked out before passegers but will a full tank of petrol and running fluids etc.
Grim. My little Astravan is goig to be maxed out.
Brig on the vauxhall smoke!!! :-\

I recently maxxed out my combo with 250 tank and 1 25l container full. Ladders points, hosreel, backpack 3 poles. My payload is 1780kg.........took a few things down the dump to get it weighed. I was about 23kg under. That aint much.
