hi i was just wondering, you can get those purpose built drain jetters, can you use them for driveways etc? or is there some reason why you cant
-
the proper drainjetting machines run at about 45ltrs a minute or more and this is too much for drive cleaning where you only need between 15 and 22 litres a minute, having said that i have cleared a few drains using my pressure washer and a drain cleaning jet but it wouldnt be powerful enough if there was a serious blockage.
-
hi trev cant you just turn the revs down on the machine?
-
Yes but then you have to match the oriface to the flow at the given revs. Flow is inversely proportional to pressure. I have drive cleaning kit and a drain jetting machine. The drain jetter uses 400ltrs in 8 minutes so its not very practical for cleaning drives but I have used the drive kit for drains also

i was going to buy tech cleans drain jetter for pressure washing as it had a hose reel on the top of it which was handy. it produces more pressure than the 15 litres a minute 3600 psi. ???
-
No more pressure just an increased flow. Its 21ltrs @ 200 bar instead of 220 bar
-
would that be no good then? i suppose i would be using a hell of a lot of water!!
if the pressure does not increase with flow rate whats the point in having a higher flow rate?
-
They are totally different machines for doing totally different jobs!
That is why they are called different things. ??? :o ???
Geeez DS, for a man who has been in this game for such a long time and has so much experience, you don't half ask some strange questions.

DS for the given engine ie 13 hp you can have more pressure @ a lower flow OR more flow @ a lower pressure. I myself see no advantage in having any more than the 15 l/min as thats about the usual flow in a domestic garden tap. I started out with the tech clean drain hose and I still use it when I get drain jobs in multi storey car parks where I can't get my hi top in - I put it in the bouncy castle van and off I go.
