Title: Inflatable roof rack
Post by: ryanst1982 on October 19, 2009, 12:51:18 pm
Just looking on Argos and have seen this inflatable roof rack for £50. Anyone got one or know anyone that has and if so whats the score with them. Look good for the money and a lot cheaper than other roof racks.

Any ideas if there worth it.

Cheers

It comes with 2 harnesses that go inside the car and around the ladders but I have bought some extra bungees to make sure the ladder is stable. My car is a xsara picassso but doesnt even have roof bars so this was the cheapest option because I would need a complete roof rack with bars which is pricey from what I have seen. Will let you know how it all goes when it arrives.

And no Cozy unfortunately not  :D,  (i wish) have put on my cards and leaflets that its what I do like you all said to do on here but not sure if that has worked or not. Will keep it on though because cant see it doing any harm, unless someone hates firefighters in which case id wanna be giving them a wide berth anyway!

Picasso bars are about £65 for the genuine pooroen ones. I chucked a pair in the skip only a couple of months ago.

I reckon with continuous use your paint will rub away?

Typical, always the way FTP. Id have had them, do you use a Picasso for your round then FTP

Not to worry, if there good, and all the reviews so they are, then it will be £50 well spent, because they are a lot more convenient than normal bars for my situation.

They will be used about 3 days a week maximum and when not in use they will be in there storage bag in the boot. Car isnt in the best condition anyway so a little paint chipping on top wont be to much hassle

No good for ladders as it's not firm/static enough, and those straps/inflatable part is definitely going to rub marks and scratches into the paint.

No, I had two Picassos as family cars (one after another) then in a fit of temper I had a garage clear out and threw anything that wasn't screwed to the wall in the local skip.  ::)

Loads on ebay.

Yes you could get a set for this car, but then you could keep the inflatable for all your cars. Cant see it running paint? And it would be firm enough when inflated.

Cheers Lord LWC that was my thinking. Hopefully its right. For the price and there versalitlity for use with any car I thought it was a good purchase. Anyone on here use a Picasso for ladders by any chance or is everyone on here fortunate enough to have a van

Cheers for that YWCS, mine is a 2000 reg and has nothing at all to fix any bars to. Looks like it did once upon a time but person I bought it off must have took them out cos holes where bolts once were. Toght B***ard. But cheers all the same YWCS
