The clamps on my harris pole are not working any longer. They just spin like they are not gripping.
The pole is only 4 weeks old and i dont want to be buying a new one each month.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix or replacement clamps that will last ?

a new one each month ? thats £180 a year in poles, plus the time it takes to do each one. Not really helpful solution to my problem is it ?
Tommy... whats plagy ? i nearly have you now
-
just wrap electrcal tape round it, then slice through the slits with a stanley knive, lasts for months
-
round the clamp or pole jouk45 ?
-
round the grip claws whatever they are called, you need to unscrew the top cone to reveal the claws
-
Tanks jouk *walks off to garage*

Tomy is saying get a plastic bottle cut it off wrap around where the clamps hold, this will solve the problem or at least for a while, the fingers (are the cuts grooves under the screw down section (black thing you put your hands on to screw down) this can prolong the use of pole, seems it is is lasting you a month you are being a littl heavey handed my friend ;)
-
that will be £14.99 ;D
-
Would any of these fit?

Well if you are going to get so menopausal about it maybe you should have bought a 'proper' pole in the first place rather than trying to make do. ;D
You didn't say you only had it a month, users on here usually get a year out of them. Are you sure you are treating it correctly?

Ok either you did mention it or you added this comment later.
You should still get a proper pile though!!! ;)

Not edited - you just didnt read propperly
I honestly dont fancy a pile or even piles, there not too healthy from what i hear
Im not heavy handed at all, maybe i got a duff one. Ive cut up a milk bottle and fitted this between the pole and clamps. Seems to be working

its got to be a diet coke bottle or it wont work ;D ;D
-
the one im useing now is 5 munths old
-
This happened to me just over tightening a little
unscrew the cones and hacksaw through them to get them off and get two quick release seat post clamps for a bike and fit them over the clamp claws first clamp is 28mm and second one is 34.9mm i think you local bike shop or halfords wiil tell you, they only do 3 or 4 sizes anyway
works really well
-
use it clampless...when you put it up hold your hand at the bottom holding tube as well..works a treat...if you buy a new one, leave clamps open from the start and keep them for awkward windows
spot on
this is the way to use a harris
