Title: First Cleans
Post by: Mike55 on October 14, 2009, 08:40:36 pm
Just wondered what people's views are on what to charge for first clean prices when picking up a custy through canvassing rather than them contacting you?

Do you still price higher for a first clean if you are canvassing for custys?

I charge 50% more for the first clean as I spend 50% longer on the window to make sure they are cleaned properly including frames.

Matt and Wizard, is that including when you have canvassed the work rather than custy contacting you?

Cheers

Yes, if I spend more time on the first clean then the subsequent cleans would be quicker and easier.

do it the crafty way, lets say they want to go monthly, i tell them they have to get 3 cleans every 2 weeks to make sure all is cleansed and purified, 100% say ok then i put them monthly,

I usually charge about 50% more for first cleans.  However, if it's a job I really want and I sense that doing so might lose it for me, then I bottle out and take the chance that they won't cancel early.

I did a first clean yesterday, and what a pig of a job!

The windows had some sort of black couloured residue on them, that didn't want to shift, so cleaned them with an applicator and hot water before using the pole, and although they cleaned up pretty well (first clean in at least 10 years apparently!) I am less happy than the customer.

I plan to buy a porcupine to have another go, but if anyone has any  tips, they would be welcome!

I charged extra as it was apparent how filthy they were before I started, and she has not (yet) committed to further cleans, although i think it's fairly hopeful.

Location is London, and near a main road, so plenty of air polution.

I don't charge extra for 1st cleans. Although i sometimes wish i had. I view the 1st clean as an investment in future speed around the job.

To be honest, i never ever used to charge any more for a first clean, i have now started to put about 505 on, it takes me ages to do the first clean cos of all the crap on them, if they dont want to pay it then then i will not spend my time to get the stubborn stans of, simple, i also only ever do 1st cleans trad

I think Joe means he does 3 cleans, each spaced 2 weeks apart, then he does them monthly.

2 times the regular price, and i spend twice as long on it to ensure its done properly - I'm usually having to clean up where other previous guys haven't cleaned and done a rubbish job.

I have a good name and reputation so most of my work comes from referrals and are happy with the pricing.

Many cheap guys out there so if thats the type of cleaner the custy wants thats up to them, if they want a quality service, after-care and advice they use me..

Also the higher first clean price, keeps out the price hunters and low ballers i dont want as customers.

Keeps away those looking to have just one clean and trying to con me into thinking they want a regular monthly clean to get it done cheap.
