Title: Carnivals & Fetes
Post by: Sapphire Window Cleaning on October 13, 2009, 11:10:25 am
Has anyone here had a stand at a carnival or village fete, giving away fridge magnets, balloons etc and basically interacting with the public in this way, and educating them on the WFP and the health and safety benefits etc.
Would you think it would work?

I had a stall at a boot fair last week and handed out flyers explaining wfp. Spent 4 hours there and got 7 custys.

Will definately do it again in the warmer weather next year!

Did you have your van next to the stall and did you have you poles set up?

Plenty of people on here have given me loads of advice over the last few weeks, so I'm just glad to be able to give something back for a change :) :)

I think it would work Matt, a lot of people dont know about WFP and are basically scared of change, educate them and get some new customer mate

I had lots of people asking about it which seems to suggest that you are right. There are still many who either have still not heard about it, or are frightened of change.

You could sponsor the Punch an Judy man, be careful though I know a couple that sideline in draincleaning and other stuff.
Its well worth getting some vista cards just for the event to hand out. demonstrating anything will get a crowd.
getting into the programme is crucial
Large Horse and dog shows are good for us, except most people are out of range, so we are starting to do localised ones now. Because we do demonstrations they dont charge us for a pitch , some of the big ones pay us.

I reckon 4 hours spent canvasing would gain more than 7 customers.

But doing the car boot saves on shoe leather! ;)

Im not so sure about that , you may be able to match it on a really good canvassing session , i think it is a top idea and will be telling my canvasser to get herself down to the next one!! ;D

Thats funny, I was thinking of different ways to advertise this morning and that idea went through my mind, but I wasn't sure? But after reading the majority of the posts on here, I think its a "great" idea! Will be booking a few for the spring/summer!  :)

Ive looked at having balloons printed with my logo, phone numbers and website.
£120 for 1,000 balloons and the setup for printing.
Have jars of sweets for the kids, indirect advertising, lol give the kids a balloon and a sweet, then their parents have my number lol along with demonstrations of the WFP. and giving away pens and fridge magnets.
I think it would be a success.
going to look into more, as if I want to have a stall at carnivals next year I would have to book them in the new year.

problem with fetes etc is you have no control over the area in which  you generate leads . If trying to concentrate work and maximize turnover i still think canvassing in targeted areas is a better use of time .
