My Alltec Advance Triple Vac came with a 1.5" Whip to accommodate the Alltec 4 jet wand which is quite frankly, brilliant.... Would there be any difference in performance in using a 2" wand which would obviously render the 1.5" whip, surplus to requirement?

have you tried doin away with the whip hose colin and just use a reducer. although i expect it would take some getting used too would improve the airflow

You have to weigh up the trade off.
Many people find 2" straight thru a bit of a pain, especially in poky little flats. No doubt you will get a bit more suck but I would play around with the different options and see what suits you.
If you do go for 2" to the wand I would recommend getting some of solutions extra flexible hose rather that use bog standard HM.

2" to the wand and then a reducer will work well for you Colin.
Worth a try as all it will cost you is a reducer rather then a wand.
I still use my whip hose on a lot of jobs, like Mike said, the tighter jobs ie bedrooms, lounge full of furniture you fighting with, and of course stairs.

Where the best place to get a 2 inch wand?
-
Same as joe colin and use the wip hose as some rooms are to small for the wand and the 2" hose etc...
There again just lost my second reducer in 2 months seem vanish into thin air ;D

i've been using 2" straight to the wand for years now and honestly can't say it is any bother at all, you soon get used to it and there is a definate increase in 'suck', hydramaster do a 1.75" wand with a 2" top for the hose to go straight onto. your other options for a 2" wand is the greenglide wand also from hydramaster if they still sell them, otherwise, it would have to be an import from an american source,

Love my 1.5" Westpac fits me perfectly, but since getting the 318 persevered with my 12" 2 " bore Greenhorn and the cleans far superior, especially on rugs. Now usually my wand of choice .
