Title: WCP at FWC Show ..... Thanks
Post by: BradMonks on October 10, 2009, 09:17:50 pm
Hi All

Just a quick word of thanks from Ian Hannaford and myself to all of you who took the time to come and say 'hello' to us at the FWC show. It was great to put faces to names and voices and we both made some new friends, thanks especially to Beryl Murray, Karl Robinson, Dave Morris and Sean Dyer for the time they spent with us.

It was the first ever trade show for Window Cleaner Pro and the response was AMAZING, we were rushed off our feet all day. Now we are looking forward to Windex and im sure it will whizz round to March before we know it.

Ian and i just want to say thanks for making it such a success for us and we are overwhelmed at the amount of downloads and sales we have had already.

Didn't go to the show, but well done chaps, you've got a great product already, add a few bits over time, and it will be even better. Keep up the hard work!

BRADMONKS,

It was nice to speak to you both at the show, you where very informative & i am just loading your cd now, so i can have a proper look at how it can help me.

I was the one who told you both, that i was thick when it came to computors  ;)

I will be intouch & thank you very much for the time you spent explaining everything to me,

Chris.

I have to say that Ian is the IT side of our partnership, i am not a computer whizz but i can use WCP pretty easily...and i reckon im thicker on a computer than most!! If i can use it ok then i will guarantee anyone can.

I have to say that there are features within WCP that some people are unaware of, that is a fault of ours for not relaying the information to you guys. Ian and i will be rectifying this with a 'WCP Users Guide' in the near future and also in the upcoming Newsletter we will have couple of sections...'Hannafords Helpful Hints' and 'Brads Basics' that may throw up a few unknown features that some have missed out on (in all honesty i expect Ians section will but my section will not!!)

Tags allow you to define custom information about a particular job. A tag is simply a string that can be used to group like jobs or tag them in some way so that you can report on them at a later date.

I like the idea of helpful hints and tips  ;)

Every new job you get you can add a tag to it to tell you where it came from . So if you advertise in Yellow Pages or have done a flyer drop when they phone you  you just ask where they got your number from and add it to the tag. Then after say a month view your tags and you can see what advertising  is working.
(Well I think thats what he said ,not tried it yet )

thats one good application basically a tag is like a key word

You can use them for anything

If you want to run a report on householsers whom you have done gutters clean for put a tag of gutters on them then you can find how many and who or tag those whom pay online as "online"

or the ones you have to ring to arrange access!!

I think Sean uses tags more than most and i think/hope he finds them really useful. If you want to 'play' with them why not just do a data backup and then play with WCP all you want then just load the backup in as it will overwrite what you have 'played' with.

Tags are user-definable so you can set them in as whatever you want to call them, some people tag 'Lost Customers' and call them in a few months to see if the new guy is as good as they were, it sometimes results in getting a custy back!

got the same problem on my pc.

the columns do not shrink and get remembered to stay the same size.. i find the debts screen very hard to navigate now.

ye i noticed that and you cant re size them but for example on the debt list it the actual header that is to big which i would of thought wouldnt be affected by the column size?

the task balance and customer balance are not resizeable and they take up a lot of unwanted space.

It would be a good idea to have it programmable to "turn off" which columns you dont require thus allowing everything to fit on the page without having to scroll left/right and losing and getting confused which name your selecting that has paid.

You are spot in Sean!! Can you do me a favour and let me know what the most useful function you find for Tags is as i would like to point that out to people so they can use it too (if thats ok with you?), i see Tags as a hugely under-used resource that can be really helpful in growing your business but i am biassed so it would be good to know your views.

Hi guys, you are right about the screen issue and i will have a chat to Ian about the best way to get around it. I have always used it on a 17" laptop so cannot comment but i will see what Ian can do for you when i see him tomorrow. See... we are apart right now so we arent joined at the hip as someone said at the show!!

The problem with screen sizes was an oversight on my part as I develop on a much larger screen. As I am going through the application I am making changes as its a large task to do them in one go. One of the things I am looking at as well is the ability to select which columns you want displayed.

Thanks

Ian
