Hi guys,
Just a quick poll as too how much you have or allow to be owed out,
I got stung last year for £7000 (which including fuel, wages and other expences was well over £10000) so Im always frightened to allow invoices to build up,
Apart from a few who I trust alot, a few of them who come on here, Ive found myself scared of allowing a debt to build up.
Will this approach frighten off new clients do you think?

i just got stung someone who owed twice has moved,thats my limit unless i know them

I got about £800 outstanding at mo £400 owed by a residential home and the rest is domestic.

i try to clean when most are in so keep an eye on the percentage so to speak
most of my work is dom so make certain of banking then do work i trust
3 strikes rule for money i cant get in.

week in week out i'm owed £100 or there abouts everybody is not in all the time so at the end of the week i don't always get all my money you get used it don't you ?????

I average €3000 - €4000 owed despite my efforts to reign it in. The majority is commercial which is paid after 60 days though,.. I know its coming but the amount builds up very fast.

3000-4000 you must be a rich man to have that outstanding

over 12k last time i looked but this is for lots of different jobs mainly commercial some pay 28 days some pay 28 days from month end and some quarterly but all the customers that owe are regualar clients.
i got done for £840 once but i try to have procedures in place to reduce this

two jobs at 550 and 80 at minute
About 500 on resis
Usually have about a weeks wage out at one time!

Between 1500 & 4000 euro's all domestic but I do work an 8 weekly round and all customers have 14 days to pay.

I'm getting annoyed by a cust that owes me £23 for 3 cleans. I think I'll stay small time ;)

You haven't got a section for £500-£1000 - which is where I am.
BTW - most of this is commercial which isn't bad debt; just not due yet. (typically 30 days net)

always to much owed, but managed well to keep it down

It fluctuates but never more than 1k. I've only ever been "done" once & that was for £30!! ;D Apart from that I've had every penny I've ever earned as a w/c. ;)

About £600 at the moment. That's quite low for me though. It' usually £800 to £1300

30 days that’s fine, 60 I am not happy, 90 days it’s very difficult to collect.
I am not speaking about commercial... as this is arranged debt. But res no mate one does not clean windows on tick. One does not buy bread and milk on credit either. I come from a country of constant recession and we must keep a firm hold on outstanding money. We are not helping our custies or ourselves if we give them credit. Credit control take discipline and guts ,but they respect you for it, We ARE WINDOW CLEANERS NOT BANKS, 30 days no more clean till you pay me. hats my rule for Residential.

At least you can reclaim the tax on any bad debt !!

I enjoy collecting, it gives good contact to custies. Because I have 2 areas that I clean close to where I live, I don't have much owing there. In other areas further away I usually end up with about 200 being owed at the end of a 6 weekly round.
Not been ripped off very often, I had the same as Stan though, 2 cleans owed, then moved away. One custy called from Wales because she had moved and forgot to pay me 13 euros for her last clean! she had rang her mate to ask her to pay her bill. Love custies like that :)

We,re still plodding along, back to positive now after little hickup
Mine is more than double top, but, most of that is safe.
We had 3 go last year, nearly same ammount as you, & one that was a lot higher took over six months to get paid, but, luckily we got it, that would have pushed our losses realy high.
Looking at new work now & picking up houses, them houses in stone are going well, looking to push for new ones soon, but, i,ll call first to see where you work so not to tread on your toes. Have you seen us around atall.
