But what does this really do/say/prove? ok it looks alot of fun and provides some light entertainment but it is so far removed from the realities of window cleaning that the two in the same breath could be different subjects.
Respectfully
Dave.

lose a bit of weight and he would of done it quicker as he would run faster lol, sure he will be on here over the weekend. ;D ;D
-
Amazing, and i suppose its fun, but a little pointless.
not taking away the achievement,
na,i will shut up ;)
i suppose everyone is competitive.
-
Well Done Terry....nice one......i can do it faster though. ;)
then i woke up 8)
-
if i could do it like that i would never have bought wfp. ;D
and anyway the sills will be filthy in real life ;D and frames.
-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8299917.stm
like to see him clean like that at the top of a ladder
-
i have come VERY close to your old record Terry....though i aint tried it for a year or two ( well 5 to be exact)....now if there was a CASH prize i may be tempted to come out from under my rock 8)
-
Can it be done quicker with WFP?
Congratulations Terry
NO CHANCE!...unless you wanna try ;D
-
Is it not £150 for the fastest
-
.........look out for the handsome guy in the background ...well done think i am the slowest window cleaner !!!
-
he would have finished all 3 by the time i did one with wfp ;D
to be honest,.. i think wfp is quicker over a whole house...( upstairs flick from window to window without ladders)....
but i am certainly quicker with a squeegie downstairs on any window...than with a brush.... think about it, by the time you have washed with a brush and rinsed..... you could have soaped up and squeegied off quicker.
but i am 99% wfp nowadays.
-
With wfp you don’t have to take the water off (it’s the rules), basically you are just cleaning an already clean pane of glass.
Go over the glass 2 seconds each pane & 2 seconds to wipe the cill 8 seconds new world record! :D
2 seconds lol..... 1....... 2 ...glass clean ?
think not Ewan lol. ;)
-
i used to be really quick on ladders (when i was 10 years younger) anyways if it was a race between wfp and trad on top windows then i know that wfp would DESTROY trad.......but if its a row of windows on the ground level with no obstacles then i can totally DESTROY wfp.....yep i am THAT quick......not that i would have the nerves of steel that Terry has to go in front of the nation to prove it......i am but a wee coward. :-X
-
couldnt we all destroy wfp on ground floor using trad?
-
are you THE sam tyler from life in mars?.....you know....the one who lives in an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE 8)
;D
-
Lol. you are such a wind up merchant.... by the time i had run my brush around the frame on the first pane... and then started to wash the glass......... he would have done all 3
-
so we were just talking about someone from here who could run with this.....the new world record holder for the quickest wfp cleaner ( in fact probably the 1st wfp record holder ) and guess whose name came up Ewan....Ewan.....guess....Ewan....have a guess mate 8)
-
i would like to see him do that up a ladder ;D
-
there is no way in a million years wfp could beat that,
-
if the window was clean to start with, why bother trying to beat it wfp?
splash and dash literally!!
-
Lets not have a row ::)
-
couldnt we all destroy wfp on ground floor using trad?
Apparently not, no one has responded to your question
Scrimman, I’m sure there are younger and quicker wfp on CIU than me I’m just saying I could beat terry’s record. I will leave the new (wfp) window cleaner record to those younger & quicker than me.
i am just yanking yer chain Ewey boy...aint noone i know gonna beats that Mr burrows behind to claim that there coveted " ah am the best wfper in the west" title.............(i think i have been watching too many corny westerns) 8)
-
its impossible, the pole size.. coupled with washing the frames first, which needs to be done....cant compete, surely with a near weightless applicator and squeegee...
i like your comments on things Ewan. and i know most of your comments are tongue in cheek to produce a debate.
but on the ground, a water fed pole, brushing furiously simply could not compete with a blade.... even for a novice.. imo.
if it was spray the water on to a clean pane.... then no competition. ;D
but it aint.
incidentally ,,, was terry's glass checked for lines, or edges being dirty ?... because at that speed, you cant get the edges clean without detailing... my opinion.
-
If you have watched Terry in action in the flesh then you really do get to appreciate just how fast he really is.
With an applicator and a squeegee you can set standard rules that all can abide by.
THe work carried out can be checked for runs and mistakes.
WFP on the other hand would take forever to check!
You'd have to wait for the glass to dry before you could check it for spots left behind!!!
I'm quick with WFP, and if you have a truly massive flowrate you can go REALLY quick!
But trad is much faster in race conditions.
I've timed myself on a pair of patio doors, bear in mind that you at least have to wash the window with WFP, edges, corners and to cover all of the glass.
In normal working conditions WFP is most certainly quicker, but after just a few goes with trad equipment I was way, way quicker. Of course that was also using the two handed technique and no detailing.
However...in normal working conditions and on a property with easy access all round, even on a bungalow I am quicker with WFP, and I promise you I am no slouch with a squeegee....but also to point out I am talking about a clean of windows that have had a month to get grimy, so the work with either method has to be carried out properly.

Well done Terry! ;D
The article says that the time was 8.14 to clean plus only one second penalty for 2 water marks.
To go that fast and only leave 2 water marks - that is where the skill is. You have to be milimetre accurate in turning the the squeegee so as optimise the full length of the squeegee without too much overlap or you need to make extra passes. Not at all easy at that speed.

Daniel san
soap on, soap off ;D

:D :D
ah glass hopper
-
i mean....ah grasshopper 8)
-
i have watched terry many times and he is quick but i would like to see it slowed down as he obviously doesnt get in top corners all the time as stated it is a bit of fun and entertainment for a proper trad event different sized ladders should have to be used on a few windows this would then sort the men from the boys but i doubt health and safety would allow us running up ladders even though most on here did it for years and some still do.
-
I thought my tortoise moves faster than Terry (Terry who?) ;D
-
3 panes of already clean glass set at just the right height, perfectly clean brush, perfectly pure water....I could do those 3 panes wfp in 3.5 seconds.
High powered blower to dry the glass to prove no spots.
But does it prove anything other than agility, because it must be a few years since TB packed up window cleaning and went into the carpet cleaning side of things.
And for those who don't know him but fancy a cheap shot he's at least a Black Belt in some martial art or other.

terry your a legend 8).
-
unbelievable trolling, at least terry can use a squegee.
-
only way wfp is faster is spraying water only ..on the glass....take another look.
-
:D
hi mates there vshould be a record for the slowest windowcleaner
ah ah ah
-
i kowe a windy that wood give WFP a run for its mony up and down ,hes two rungs at a time up and down ,but his nees are nacked now
-
LOL.....half you blokes dont even know what a squegee is let alone use it.
Well done Terry.
-
i was there yesterday, i was on the news stream as i was practising for competition while terry was being interviewed. The competition is a laugh and terry doesnt leave it 100percent clean but everyone has same rules and i thought i was fast but with time penalties was 22 seconds the guy is good! Well done debbie dave morris wife as well as she set a new womens world record!
-
Thanks for all your comments guys girls :) I am glad I did this on BBC to the disbeleavers of my ability,to this and each window in just 2 20 seconds or so it is now recorded yet again with BBC the first time I ever took a world record.
it has taken some years to perfect, and if I did not have the record it would not be in this country,I have seen the best in the world in other countrys they dont bother me, 9.14 seconds that will take some getting, was great to see everyone new and old faces just went all to quick,
usain bolt all about speed.... ;D
The king is far from dead ;D
-
Usain Bolt.

hi terry
i wasnt knocking your achievment in the earlier post but the bbc report came accross very tacky and a bit of a mickey take, it could of highlited the changes that have happened in window cleaning and pointed out that a lot still take the traditional method of window cleaning seriously.
i also mentioned in another post that you do not cover all the glass surface this isnt knocking your speed but shows a fault in the competition, if you have time applicate the three windows thoroughly and then time yourself just squeeging and i bet your time is slower in just squeeging as you will have to cover every corner etc to remove all soap.
i hope you dont take any offence in my comments as you have promoted window cleaning along with the FWC for many years but recently i dont feel the FWC is dealing with the real issues facing our industry seriously enough and as said in earlier post i will not be renewing my subscription with them next time.
-
not at all Trev ;D the problem is what ever you say on camera, most times they pick what they want,so noy always the true story as I say it :-\ I do agree with you ;D
-
Jokes aside, with a (lot) of practice (at least a couple of hours) wfp will beat that time by at least a second, then the following year at least 2-3 seconds.
If you put the same amount of attention into cleaning the windows! As Terry does which by the way is zero and concentrate on moving as fast as you can, wfp will destroy that world record time of his.
You keep making the comparison to actual window cleaning, it’s a competition.
I'd still be getting the hose reel out of the van as Terry ran past wiping those sills ;D
