Title: Floor polish

Been asked today by a client to polish a cottage floor they rent out.
From what I was told it is a hard wood floor that they have cleaned and now want a polish applied.
Any ideas guys of a metalic polish I can apply and buff up?

  Dave, use some johnsons traffic wax liquid. Easy to apply and gives a nice finish on wood.

Depends on what the original seal is on the floor and the condition of the seal. If it has been waxed then a wax polish and a buffing will be ok.

If it has been sealed and the sealing is ok then an emulsion such as Premier Products Platinum could be used

Dave,

Not being a wood expert myself, I'd be hesitant about getting involved with this!

The biggest problem with wood is not knowing what's been put on it before.

You might struggle putting a metalised emulsion polish onto wax, it might not adhere properly, maybe it'd need sanding back beforehand.  And if you're going to do that, there's a granwax liquid polish (dowding & plummer sell it) which brings it up a treat.  Maybe give D&P a ring, you could get some sand screens for your rotary and have a crack at it if you're brave :)

Thanks guy's for the tips, its been a good 20yrs since I sanded and varnished floors. The reason for the query was I had hoped there were new products available. This is going to be a ball ache so to see whats involved I'm going over to  the clients property see whats involved
