so no one would have the guts to charge them double time between christmas and new year, when taxi drivers bus drivers and everyone else is getting double time, including most of our custys, why are we so diffrent, seriously answer that one, we are entitled as much as anyone
-
They might just tell you to come back after the holiday period then.
-
There is good reason we cannot charge double. We are self employed as Jouk said he works for a company.Which charge more all year round,to afford to pay double at Christmas. We need to deside if we have a job or a business.
Dont tell our staff they should be asking us for more at these times.

What a daft topic.
Double time is on Bank Holidays like xmas day and Boxing Day, when was the last time a window cleaner worked on xmas day or boxing day etc
Stupid idea

I often do bank holidays but not xmas or easter.
I did spend a chunk of boxing day on a couple of commercial jobs a few years ago.
I even did some other commercial work on new years day a couple of years back.
Only charged usual rate of course. :)

If a job can only be done very early (4 or 5 am) or the job has to be done and completed on a bank holiday or Sunday, then I calculate it into the price. Not double time really, just making it worth working on days like that.
I try to avoid all that stuff now and concentrate on domestic stuff. So I spend Sundays doing anything but working.
I thought Jo was full time WC too. Wonder if he works with Ewan. He's a security guard too, I'm sure he's at Sainsbury's.

if they called and asked for them to be done at that time I would charge more defo and be upfront as to why. If they want it done they will.
