does anyone have any stats on how many truckmount users there are to portable users. if there are around 7500 carpet cleaning companies in the uk, how many of them are made up of truckmount users?
derek
-
No stats Derek but it would be interesting to know.
I reckon at least 90% will be porty users.
-
With you on that Joe.
I have yet to see a TM round here.
I have yet to see a TM in the flesh mounted in a van.
Go on Derek I've given you an opening fire a joke or 2 off.

Run a poll on here to give you an average of the forum users.
Bob

theres only about 20 people that post on here, and i know what they use. the rest are just nosey bar stewards.
put an interesting post up and you'll get 30 views before you even get a reply. quite annoying really.
"PUT YA 2 PENCE WORTH IN YA BLOOD SUCKING BEEP BEEPS" ;D

48 carpet cleaners within 30miles, only 6 T/Ms the rest portable users
-
This forum has 1800 members so I think your total of 7500 is miles out and in 25 years of c/c covering a area of approx 50 miles diameter I have only ever come across two t/m's a Rainbow and a Bane
-
this forum is not just for carpet cleaners mr meldrum, i was given that figure by a high profile supplier, not saying its right but it sounds about right.
mike
is that hull area?
derek
-
where do you get 1800 from Robert?
I see a figure of 18000 but as derek says that between carpet cleaners, window cleaners, general cleaners etc
-
within 20 miles of me in Warrington I can readily think of 8 other tm's, plus me thats 9
-
Well spotted Joe it's 18000 well 17981 to be precise
-
Rob
How did you find the Hand tool ?
Bob
-
Dereks thats hull and surounding towns.

One thing for sure forum members are in the minority nationally
Oh I’m the only one in my borough would have been two but he went porty ;D
Len
-
Let you know after Friday Bob it will be well tested on a local job.
-
Derek when you find out who the porty guys are can you let me have their names and address so I can demo them a truck-mount ;D
-
Only one in Bridlington Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ;D
One in Driffield i think about 16 Miles away then Scarborough about 19 miles away
Cheers Tony
-
And bet there TM isn't level half the time either. ;D
-
I cant think of at least 6 Truckmounters within a six or seven mile radius here, Not sure on how many portable operators there are but can think of about 4 but its probably more
-
so would anyone disagree with 10% ?
from the questionable figures given that would be 750 truckmounts?
derek
-
Sounds about right across the board will all the suppliers
-
That's unbelievable! Only 10% (roughly) of the carpet cleaners in this country have Truck Mounts. That's 90% of them taking twice as long on every job and being able to do less jobs in a day. Wakey, wakey, boys! (I know, I'm a stirring git, aren't I? No replies required!!) ;D
Glyn ;D
-
simon, ahem, i mean mr gerrard, why are you so hell bent on convincing porty users to go truckmount, personally, i would much rather it be 5% if you catch my drift, nudge nudge wink wink say na more ;)
derek
-
LordDerek,
It just makes good business sense and I'm a bit of an evangelical when it comes to spreading the word about the benefits of Truck Mounts having reaped the rewards myself for so many years.
Simon
-
Didn't know you had a truckmount Major.
Simon
-
we've started shortening the names of our truckmounts to just 3 letters, i've got a box 421, what you got simon ;D
derek
-
Baldy,
I haven't, I've got a Hi-performance Truck Mount ;D
Simon

Simon

so youve got a big tit driving around in your van and ive got a big box, they say that about balding men ya know. ;D
derek
ps... i'm only jealous, one day mr gerrard, one day.............
-
Don`t you need to be doing lots of work to have a tru. no use have a 20k machine sitting on the drive. YOUR DRIVE.
-
You can do a whole lot more work if you had a tru. If whatever machine you have at the moment is sitting idol then you've got a marketing problem.
-
There is a marketing problem your right he has no USP
-
USP?
-
unusually strong portable, its slang for truckmount.
or it could mean unique selling point. ;)
ugly sister called penny?
either that or he's dyslexic and meant the courier called ups.

Scud marks, saddam's missus always moaned about them ;)
-
Gary,
Unique selling point. It's something you have as a business that is unique to you. A very basic example of that is a Truck Mount against competitors who use portables. You could sell the fact that you do a twelve step cleaning process, or that the carpets are dry before you leave...something that marks you out as different from your competitors, something customers can only get when they come to you, a USP.
Simon
-
12 point cleaning process..............my god son, how long does that take.............I only want my carpet freshened up?
-
Truckmount yawn, yawn.
Truckmount blah, blah, blah, yawn, yawn.
Funny how us low moisture cleaners do not feel the need to compare the size of our rotarys.
Perhaps we are comfortable with our masculinity.
;D
-
Less weight in the van, quicker escape ;D :D
