Post by: JRDEasiReach on October 07, 2009, 04:22:40 pm
If i wanted to use rain water in my van system how would i go about getting it to the van input like i currently use with my hose?  Any ideas?

Go to your local industrial estate and ask if you  can collect the rain water from there downpipes. Large warehouses will collect a dam sight more water than a house guttering system. Then use a transfer pump to move water around to where you will filter it or if the tds is low enough just put it straight through your di. Make sure you have a decent inline strainer though. Gettin cr*ap off the warehouse roof in your resin cant be good.

a good particle filter between the rainwater storage tank and your tank in the van will do the trick.

right ok but i have an RO unit in my van so the water needs to be pumped into it via a hose, so if bought an extra pump to pump the rain water in would that work?

Yeah you would need a booster pump though rather than one like you have in the van if you want to put it through your ro. i have a clarke cbm 240e from machine mart, there about £250. In all fairness though if the tds of the rain water is not that high you could just put it straight through the di
