Title: Sheds
Post by: Clive McDonald on October 02, 2009, 08:21:16 pm
I have a 19' by 10' shed on it's way to store my ibc and 4040 ro in.

Anyone got any top tips or suggestions? currently my ibc is outside so this has to be better. Last winter it froze up solid.

place 2x ibc's under the shed in the ground...then you'll still have a decent sized shed as well.

Cheers
Dave.

Is it tax allowable?
How best to insulate?

If the weather is enough to freeze 2x IBC at least 1 meter below ground...you'll not be working anyway... :)

Cheers
Dave.

wooden floor.

I would brace & support the floor where the tanks will stand before you erect it. Most pre-fab sheds are quite pathetic when it comes to stregth/sturdyness.

i just bought a 16 b 9 and i laid a concrete floor by hand, what advice are you looking for in particular

yes its tax deductible as long as its used purely for work if not a % could be used
i havent insulated mine yet

It's an expensive shed and i think the floor will be fine.

Last winter i didn't mind losing the odd few days work because of freezing, but carrying things inside (my pre di is outside), and going out at 11am to check things was a pain.

When you have it as you would like post a picture.

if its a good priced shed the floor will be fairly strong

you could measure the "floor joists / bearers " and just add a few more

what are you going to put the shed on ? ? ?

as for insulation , well measure the upright timbers thickness, my guess they will be 2 and a bit inches, then go and choose the thickness polystyrene insulation  ( it will come in 8 X 4 ft sheets, very easy to cut down to the right width ) then slid inbetween the upright studs, if you cut them fairly tight they will stay in place, failing that just buy some1/4 " or 3/8" ply and line the insides to hide the polystyrene

yes it will add a few quid onto the price but i bet the 19 x 10 isnt cheap, so it will be money well spent

this year i have project managed a "home office / guest suite build " built out of a nice big shed, we did exactly the same procedure but covered it in 3/8 plasterboard not plywood because it had to be a good finish, it was then chaulked and taped and painted, it looks like a house by the time it was done, had a bathroom and mini-kitchen aswell ;)

it takes very little heat to make it nice and warm
