Put my foot through these tiles today to try to reach the above window.
Bloke who owns it said it would be fine if I kept to the nails; which I have done in the last 2 years. Tripped on my hose today and broke them. Like I say WHOOPS!

She was very good about it. I found a little collection of tiles they had stored in a shed for when they had the roof built. I reckon its probably an hours work tops to get it sorted. Shame, cos I think my excess on P/L is £250.00.

I never go on those roofs anymore, have heard way too many tiles crack even if I couldn't see a single crack. Not to mention they are pretty lethal when wet.
What were you doing up there may I ask? Guttering? :)
-
1 hours work tops
the 2 at the bottom are very easy to do and will just nail back on
the top 2 will have to be repaired using the lead strip method ( i have a site on my bookmarks that i post on a DIY forum i use )

honestly a 1 hour job including getting the ladder out
-
the very reason i dont go on roofs..
cant see why you would need to go on it if your wfp ???
-
That window in the picture is too far back to do from the ground.
-
If I couldn't reach that with a pole it wouldn't get done, its not worth it.
-
I doubt it will from now on. But saying that the job is £90, you have to try.

Can do it no problem with a 25ft SL-X. I have got one that's even further back. It's a pain on your muscles due to the angle, but can be done.

I like to see a full shot of the window and the ground.. i reckon it could be done with the right pole.
-
It cant. Ive been there loads of times. Admittedly the picture does make it look accessible but it isnt.

Okay, I believe you. That's a shame. Is the ground very far off?
-
try slimming a bit less fat ;D
-
Not saying you should copy me, but i use step ladders for these.

That roof with the tiles on it is high, theres a kitchen underneath, its probably 10' from ground to the gutter and another 2' height to the ridge.
-
i could clean that no problem, you need a swivel brush, to work at that angle, i do them all the time, go wfp, and thats one reason i have picked up loads of work from trad for breaking tiles, gutters, facias, damaging the lawn, and so on, go wfp batman ;D

I am :-\

Depends what sort of pole(s) you have. I would have no treouble doing it from the ground

So do I if I need to to get the elevation. Not ideal but better than going on the roof.

No offence, but just saw what joe do did with your name.(my names mcdonald so i've been called ronald a few times).Stupid off topic question i know, but has this happened before?
-
No excuse at all using wfp climbing on tiles roofs ? TUT TUT ,
swivel brush with i recon an 18ft pole would have that sorted easy ;)
PK
-
i never notice that, bateman, i never seen the e lol sorry matt,
-
there is no way on this earth i would walk on those tiles to dodgy
-

Yes mate ;D. Does it worry you when they call you Ronald?
-
I wont stand on slate, the big thick tiles are fine i wont stand on the little stamp ones either they snap crackle and pop like leaves under your foot
-
Matt, where abouts is this property? and what pole are you using?
If it's within my area I'll happily pop along with you and see if I can reach it with the Gardner pole, which going from the pictures i have done a few like this.
BTW 7 days to go hopefully and the transfer of business will be completed.

Its local Neil literally just up the road; no worries I went up there again today and explained I was getting a longer pole shortly so if it COULD be done then it would from the ground once that arrives; but if not then it wont be getting done. Been using an SL-X. Thanks though mate.
Its cost £70 to get sorted.
Once that deal completes will you be relocating?

Oh yes to Somerset
-
I just read your post regarding tiring of the boredom of the job, good to see you'll be keeping your finger in the pie and not going to be a stranger.

As Tim said, a 25ft (I think you've got the 22ft) should reach that from the ground.

Buy a set of multi-purpose ladders for about £50 from B+ Q OR Focus and you will find them great for conservatory roof cleaning and sloping roof's like this one.
