After much swaying betweeen Pure Freedam & Brodex I have just ordered my new 800ltr system & hot water unit from pure freedam, being fitted on 14th October If I can work out how to put photos on here I will do when its installed!!!
Cleaning with hot water cant wait!!!
-
how much and what spec is the pure freedom hot?
-
two man 9kw fitted for 2490 inc vat is there price but i got a small discount as I was buying a system as well.
-
Sounds a good price, look forward to seeing the picks.

-
Is the £2490 just for the hot water add-on?
-
its deisel 9kw the price is just for the hot water part.
-
Even though I would love to try hot, the price is just nowhere near what I'm prepared to pay for it. Maybe if it's sub 1k I would go for it. But 2.5 grand? Phew.
-
What that man said.
The prices for these bits of kit are ridiculous. We paid 1K about 4 years ago for a new combi-boiler and labour to fit it at home. How come these things theyre passing off as heaters for caravans etc cost up to 4 times that for a residential property?
Bloody rip-off! Theres no doubt about it.

If you tried hot (and i do mean proper hot, not some piddley luke-warm jobbie. You NEED the 9kw one if your going to get anything) you'd happily pay the asking price and more.
The difference between hot and cold is well worth paying for.
Why is it more than a combi boiler? hmm, they are probably mass produced by the trillion in china, thats why they are relatively cheap. This is a different thing.
Why does a digital watch cost less than £10? How would you like to try making it yourself- how long would that take? How much would it cost? Mass production brings prices down massively. They arent mass producing hot water systems for window cleaning, so you pay a higher, but fair price. When I got my hot system, i paid much more than they are available now for, but I dont regret it, I've had several years of great service from it, and it has paid for itself several times over.
That is all.

not a bad price varitech are selling them for £2,295 not sure of spec

Im sure hot has its place in the business; just not for 90% of users. Easier Im sure on long frequency commercial (note: easier, not necessary!).
For the huge majority of window cleaners an investment in a hot water system is likely to be deemed a luxury, which in fact it more than likely is. You can probably clean all your windows on your round in general with a few quick, conscientious strokes of a well presented brush whilst on a good rinse flow with cold. Hot probably wouldnt help in any sense with those windows cleaned regularly on 95% of work.
Why invest in something which isnt necessary but is so costly, whereas a pole, van, ladder, tank, RO etc is. Those heaters fitted are the same price as my van and they NO WAY represent the same need, requirement or importance to my business as my mode of transport do.
As for suggesting theyre the price they are is because they are not mass produced is ridiculous mate, sorry, but its because theyre a novelty and a reasonably new concept.
No offence intended, I'll consider one when theyre a somewhat more realistic price.

These diesel powered hot systems are based around erberspacher and webasto heaters which cost £1000 odd before you start adding extra controls, valves, pumps and enclosures to make them suitable for WFP. Add the cost of labour assembling and fitting them and it actually represents very good value for money. I doubt they'll get much cheaper in years to come.

As I remember, people used to say this about waterfed pole compared to ladders. They used to say 'wfp has its place, but its not absolutely necessary. Its only really needed for the odd awkward window'
And in a way that is still true. I could probably do about 95% of my work from ladders if i had to, so by your reasoning "Why invest in something which isnt necessary but is so costly"?
Even a cold wfp system usually costs more than a vehicle, but that doesnt mean its a luxury.
In a way I can understand why you think like this, if you ever get a chance to try a mate's hot water system for yourself, you'll probably understand what all the fuss is about! Personally I would never go back to cold water unless I absolutely had no choice.

That is a good price, you will not regret going hot. It sounds like its a Webasto if its 9kw, and i assume that its a 2 man set up, if so the heater is perfect for 2 men as i have one. I also have a 4kw on an ionics system, which is ok for one man, but not man enough for 2. Did you get the frost protection, timer and blower in the price? Be nice to see some pics once you have had it installed, as i have acquired a van and 8 months old tucker system which i would like to add hot to.
-
Cheers nice & clean Im not sure if it has the frost free thermostat & blower but ill find out today & let you know.
As for the hot water system being a luxury, we clean a lot of schools, do a lot of one off cleans, loads of UPVC cleans & con roofs so I believe this will make things easier & quicker as the say time is money!!!
-
I dont think im paying to much for my kit I do a lot of research into the products I buy & as Brodex, Varitech, and Ionics are all more expencive plus these guys are proper engineers I believe I have a good deal.
oh regarding going round in a tin can, the whole system is going in a Nissan Interstar 58 plate! ???
-
Sorry illlput my hand bag away now the whole lot cold and hot 40/40 ro system fitted ready to go was £4900
-
I dont know what all the fuss is about, if you choose to spend on your business because you feel or know it will make your working life easier and maybe even quicker then what price is that?
money is not everything in life, satisfaction at work where you spend more than half your woken lives should be a high priority..
If you have the money to spend why not? personally i dont.. but then again, i dont feel that a permanent hot system would make my life all that much better.
I have tried the L5 and although i dont have it permanently installed, i do use on on some first cleans where hot is far superior to clean off the windows and frames than cold. especially when it comes to spider webs, snail trails etc.
each to their own is what i say.. enjoy your new toy!!
-
i once heard a guy used a L5 heater, think he said it was under 200 quid
what are peoples thoughts on this ? ? ?
-
drwindows :
Going from ladders to wfp is a clear advantage, going hot not so. You can't tell me that on your normal 4 weekly and 6 weekly domestics a hot system is twice as fast. No way. Wfp can be twice as fast as ladders, so that point is a moot one. On first cleans, and minging conservatories, upvc etc, hot would be a lot better. But how many of them does your normal single operator window cleaner do? Not enough to warrant a 2.5k addition to your already 2 grand system that cleans windows fast already.

Its ok, but dont expect to get covered by your insurance for full use of it un supervised in your van unless you get it professionally fitted.
look into the legalities of using it first. I decided it wasn't worth the hassel should it occur.

I saw a neat L5 setup about a year ago. The guy worked out of a trailer and the L5 was rigged up on this, thus avoiding allsorts of rules and regulations regarding carrying gas in a vehicle.
Ewan agrees with me as well about something. Im off for a lie down.
-
I don't think 2.5k is a bad price & if it benefits your particular work then it's a wise investment. I haven't got one but would consider one in the future.
-

I don't see it as a luxury now, just the norm, you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner!
Just make sure you have it serviced yearly, stop it from clogging up. I have taken mine to a Webasto dealer to have them done, to give you an idea on cost, the 4kw cost £150.00 inc parts and labour, and the 9kw was £235.00 inc parts and labour.
-
cheers nice & clean I will forward you some photos when I get some.
As for the frost free timer & blower it does not come with this I thought it would as they was no options to add this on the website, they are getting back to me on what the extra cost would be if any.
Do you think its still worth investing in without it?
-
Hot Pure water cuts through grime ect. faster than cold thus reducing the time spent on first cleans and Commercial cleans.
So in my eyes £2500 for a hot water system is a good investment in the long run.
I think they will come down to around £1500 in the years to come though, but I doubt it very much if they will fall below 1K.
on the comparison to a home boiler, hot water WFP systems are for commercial tradesmen not residential customers so the prices would be higher than that of a home boiler.
The thing with any asset is, will it make me money? if the answer is yes then buy one. if you haven't enough commercial or first cleans to warrant it then don't bother.

wont freeze pipes in winter too :D

Hot water is absolutely no better or different to cold!

Used both?

I have a varitech hot water unit but i want 1 that gets the water hotter,it works well and needs a fully charged battery to work properly.I will be looking into the Ionic top of the range add on to see whether it gets the water hotter than mine does.
-
folk that rail on about the benefit of hot water are kidding themselves . whats that saying--- a fool and his money are easily parted .
how much oil or grease is there in u.k. rain, id guess zero

The varitech hot probably uses a 5kw heater, which IMO should be called a "luke-warm system" not hot. Fair enough its better than nothing, but you need the 9KW heater to make it hot.

heres an experiment
run a knife which has had butter on it under a cold tap.
Then do the same under a hot tap.
So you can see on greasy glass, hot would be of huge benefit.
I have not got hot yet, but will have soon.
-
I have yet to encounter a window with butter on it !!!!!!!!

Im going for hot as well when i go wfp i know how much better hot is when washing the car birds dirt just melts away with hot and can take an age with cold even when pre soaked espeicialy in the colder weather

Yes, worth investing in it even without the frost protection, but if you can have it added, be worth it though. Think for the frost protection as an add on was £140 plus vat when i got it, but i also added the blower, had it fitted so it blows hot air into the cargo area, and through the bulk head to, no more frozen windows. The blower would be a bonus if you have filtration on board as well i would of thought. If you can come to some sort of deal with them, be worth adding both.

Cheers nice&clean Im in discussions with them ill let you now the out come.

Ey, let us know what you end up getting for what price if you don't mind. Interesting thread this.
-
I use hot and cold wfp. Hot is quicker and less effort on difficult jobs and new cleans. Personal preference really. May go for a 9kw heater next time around for ww jobs.
-
I have yet to encounter a window with butter on it !!!!!!!!
Its not the butter but the oil content, Deisel from main roads would be a lot easier to clean with hot.

traffic grime is defo easier to clean with hot,.. but its the bird muck where you see the biggest difference.

How does the frost protection work. We are running Ionic Thermopures. They have 9kw Webasto heaters within.
Any help appreciated.
