Title: how many bins can a 2-3 man crew do in a day
Post by: carbon on September 30, 2009, 11:00:18 am
Hi I see an Opportunity to start a bin cleaning round in my area, and was wondering realistically how many bins can be cleaned comfortably by one van and 2-3 staff per day. The area is built up so most bins are close by.

Cheers

Do people need to have their bins cleaned weekly?

I dont but then i have bags.. but i cant imagine wanting to have the bin cleaned if i did have the big bins..

Its cheaper to buy a new bin after time surely?

I understand that weekly cleaning might not be needed. but was hoping to tap in to the proud home owner who would want a weekly clean.

out of intrest how much are you guys charging for clean and what would they get for that?

Id also look into the legal requirements of bin cleaning, im sure you need a waste license and other requirements.

Considering you gonna be following the council about everyday it would be stupid not too.

i looked into bin cleaning last year and ditched the idea too many other people starting up in the area plus you will need the right equipment / van and somewhere to dispose of the waste water you will produce , the fine for tipping it down the drain was something stupid if i remember

We have 3 bins here, blue, black and green.  The guys come to our area fortnightly and clean black one fortnight and green the next, although we have compost bags in our green bin we still have this cleaned at £3 per time.  I would say about 25% of our street (approx 25 houses) have their bin cleaned each time they are around.

You need to do your homework on the setting up costs and regs but also find out which areas aren't yet being covered, there are alot of crews out there doing this type of thing and it will be more in demand once the whole country has the green bins, if not looked after they stink and get maggots and flies yuk!!
