Title: wcw backpack PROBLEM
Post by: lee_dewing on September 28, 2009, 08:29:45 pm
hi,  all

anyone have wcw backpack, just got one as a backup to my freedom trolley, which battery has died on.

Just used wcw backpack today was quite happy with but the water flow is a little bit slow?
which i am suprised about as 80 psi pump thought it would be blasting out.

anyone else experienced this have i got a dud?
It's o.k but just feel it needs a little bit more welly!

any advice guys
thanks lee.

Check the fuse. The flow dropped on mine when the fuse went.

yep,
battery fully charged, had on about 16hrs charge.

where is fuse?

when backpack showed up it would only work when plugged in with charger, this was because when i opened up found one of the leads was not connected to battery :(

lol the wcw backpack is not 4litres per minute.
a 100psi pump only gives 5.2 litres per minute and that is flat out.
it should be between 1.5 and 2 litres per minute. my backpack has a flow rate of 2 litres per minute which is more than enough for working WFP.

the backpacks are from China and they are made for spraying chemicals and pesticides. that is why you have a lance ands nozzles with the backpack.

my backpack is the WCW one and bright yellow, the shurflo backpack has a flow controller I think or is the omni backpack.

My WCW back pack will empty itself in about 5 minutes if I leave the flow on full without restricting it.

Depends on the size jets you have on your brush of course, but on mine (the gardiner brush setup) I have twin jets of water squirting a good 4ft maybe 5ft or more straight up...way too high a flow so I restrict it to about 18 inches.
As a rule of thumb that gives you a flow rate of about a litre per minute, which I find perfect in most situations.

Regarding PSI and flowrate....
You can have a high flow rate with low PSI and the reverse with high PSI!!!

I'm   confused.com ::)

sounds like i'm like craig 72 then.

are the fuses easy to get hold of if thats it?

flows just about good enough but on reading other posts before buying i was under impression water came out a bit too quick, so thats why you needed hozlelock connector with tap to turn flow down.

i have vikan hi-lo brush 2mm jets i think ian.

Check the flow rate from b/pack - fill up a two litre bottle and time it.  1min = 2Lpm  30sec's = 4Lpm etc etc .

Jets size: Stick a drill bit in the jet to guage what size the jets are. 2mm is a good size IMO.

Ian's right, psi and flow rate are specific to each pump and can vary. The PSi is just the cut off point.  The flow rate is how much water the diaphragm is pushing through.

yep,

It was funny; guy at wcw said very few things go wrong on these backpacks then said wires can come off.

As you say think they would check em :D
