Title: 400l in a combo?????
Post by: Pole 2 Pole on September 27, 2009, 03:31:36 pm
Hi lads.....i got on '02 combo............Would havin 400l in the back of it be too much, does anyone know? I'd probably only put 300 in it..350 max. Would that legally be safe? Cheers fellas.

Your V5 will tell you what weight you can carry. Remember that's including fuel, you, equipment, cage and should be evenly spread out.

A van of that size, your probably looking at 250L tank plus kit in my opinion without the back end being on the floor

I would not be happy with a 400l tank in a combo, 400l +400kg plus say 25 kg for the tank, add the frame another 25kg (or strapes 1kg diy option added for matt)
15kg for hose reel with 100mtrs of hose
pump ect about 5kg, fuel 35kg, trip signs 5kg, you 50kg, ladders if you have them 10kg... these are only the things that came to mind straight away and weights are guestimet. 250 would be safe and 25l barrels if you needed them

it depends on what model you have, i have just bought a 54 plate 1.3 cdti 2000 which takes just under 800kg's and plan on putting a 400 litre tank and a gutter vac/geny etc in it

this should help you as it depends on the model you have www.gmproductforum.co.uk/articles/2036.pdf

you are pushing that van to the limits imo, I have a gutter vac and gen also, I would love to see the pic of it all in the van.

I have a transit and had to put another new system in because of weight issues now only a 500l tank gutter vac pw and gen and it when loaded with all is tight

I really think i ought to be thinking of long term plans anyways,ie a two man set up. If there's one thing ive learnt with wfp and vans it's that for long term purposes, it's best to push the boat out that little bit extra so in terms of the business growing........if i'd thought big to start with......i wouldn't be in this dilemma now. Gotta admit tho..i do resent paying VAT on a second hand van  :(

i have the combo crew van, i wouldnt want to put anything more than a 250l tank in it....its a good wee van but i reckon if you want to get a bigger tank you are as well to go for a transit sized van and while you are at it get a 1000l tank.

I use a finder for my vans, I say what I am looking for, I get what I want at the price I want to pay.

Email me your details and I will have a word with him, he works down south so no problems.

just going back to the combo for a minuite. I have a 1.3 cdti 2000 combo with a 500l tank and carry a gutter vac and a pressure washer frequently and its great, bags of power and good fuel economy. I sometimes wish I had a had a transit size van but not for work only surf boards Kyacks etc. If you never need more than 500l their a good van.

1780kg includes the weight of the vehicle.

You need to be aware if you have A/C too, that makes a great difference.

Well i took my van to the dump today to recycle 2 bags of green waste  :) got the van weighed after, full tank(petrol and water)........my limit, as mentioned is 1780kg................it weighed in at 1740kg.........250l,hose reel three poles, ladders and points...backpack.......that's about it. So i was pretty much borderline. Anyone else with much more on board really wants to be careful  ;) The man who said 250l plus a container full............was pretty much on the money  ;) Good work Windowwashers  ;D

Ladders? More than one?

Did the 1740 include yourself?

Tank and frame or just tank strapped in?

How heavy is your generator?
I am struggling in my escort, it has a payload of 650kg and I have a 350litre tank 100m microbore, pumps filters, 3 brushes, 24ft lance pressure washer and 50m 1/2 inch hose. and that struggles.
