Title: Axminster wool carpet
Post by: chrisjohn on September 27, 2009, 11:19:16 am
Cleaned my first axminster carpet today.Did all tests. It had a woven backing so i kept psi low and did not over wet.Used Prochem pre spray gold, and extracted with prochem liquid woolsafe. When i applied my turbo dryer carpet started to smell a bit like sweaty socks. Now i know that because wool is a natural fibre, this will happen. Will the smell go away when carpet is 100% dry i should i be expecting a call from customer to go back. Please help

Yes Chris the smell does go away this is normal. It sounds as if you have done everything correctly.

Just tell your customer it's a sign that it's really good quality wool.

I always tell the customer that I can make the carpet smell like an orange grove on a tuscan hillside or an apple orchard  in an autumn breeze, all I have to do is cover it with a chemical perfume....or I can leave it smelling as it should, like damp wool which will go away when the carpet is dry.
