anyone use there hose reels outside there van and shut the door on there hose from the tank to the reel(normal hose from tank to reel not microbore as on the reel),if so does it effect the flow rate at all?
-
Yes it will affect the flow rate, the pump will have to work harder and you run the risk of putting a hole in the hose.
Other options are a hole in the door with runners around it or ports

I just shut the hose in the rear doors doors on the first latch and have experienced no ill-effects.

Yes, that's what I used to do, no probs at all, and could lock the van.
I have since found a drain hole behind the trim, behind the rear wheel arch (most vans have them, it's just a case of finding them)
I shoved the hose through that and hooked it through the tow eye. It looks really neat, and didn't have to drill holes in the side of the van, or anywhere!!
-
why not just drill the holes where you need them, fit ports to underside of bumper. save alot of hassle and is also less of a trip hazard, never could understand why some have ports 4ft up the side of van as that is asking for trouble imo.

Yeah I know, under the bumper is the best place. Often those huge beige things look awful don't they?
I just worked with what I had, and happened to already have a drain hole in the floor that was pefect for the job!

I work with reel outside but not with door closaed on hose. There is a hole drilled in the floor and a hoselock fitting under the rear bumper. You can locxk the doors too if you work that way. Squashing the hose in the doors would definitely restrict flow.

That's interesting to know Malc. Bit late for me with this van but will try it with the next - so long as I can lock the doors if necessary.

Tail gates are good stick a wooden peg in the gap and yopu can still close and lock the door.

Or alternately move somewhere nicer where you don't have to close your doors!

That's good that you haven't had a problem with theft.. Neither have I...
But that doesn't mean an opportunist won't strike at some point in the future. :-X
And when/if they do, if your van isn't locked, you won't be able to legitimately claim on your insurance. :-\
(If you have van insurance that covers tools in locked van) 8)

To steal what?
A dirty hose weighing about 50 or 60kg full of water?
Some old pieces of fishing pole?
A huge plastic tank of water strapped to the van floor?
A pump screwed to the side of the van which isn't much use for anything else?
What a haul a window cleaner's van is! ;D
-
unless its terrys van ;D ;D ;D
-
buy a scudo
you can close rear doors and lock em
reinforced hose barely gets nipped
panel fit on these vans is unreal
utter crap but useful too ;D

See? You wouldn't let it lie! Now Squeaky's going to "prove" he is right again! ;D
