Title: Am I losing it? Getting soft in my old age but with a good result!
Post by: AuRavelling79 on September 25, 2009, 08:42:35 pm
I am so far ahead on my round that I've nearly finished for the month - but today I went out for a couple of hours to get away with clearing up some two-monthlies at seven and a half weeks instead of eight or nine.

Anyhoo, luvly day and tootling along by the river about 11 am and the old lady next door to the house I'm working on is in the garden. "Oooh, young man? (must be blind ;D) can I ask you a huge favour? I don't like asking cuz my hubby does them but he's been ill ...could you get that lump of bird's muck off of my upstairs window?"

I vacillate (good word eh? I try to edjamacate my audience  ;D) between thinking "cheeky mare" and "poor old bird" but against all that Ewan err.... I hold dear I did the whole upstairs window and the one below it for free. She insists on trying to give me a couple of quid and I settle for a cuppa and a chocolate roll.

I go round the back of my original custy and the hubby next door is in the back garden and he comes up to the fence and says "thanks ever so much for doing that my friend, much appreciated."

I start putting my stuff away and he follows me out to the van and long story short he is now a new regular customer.

Ecclesiastes 11 v 4

I was trying to be discreet and not use the word bible. Just wondered what it refered to.

This isn't "Life of Brian" leapstall!   ;D

And yes EZclean; that's it. It originally applied to farmers (obviously) but quite apt for window cleaners too don't you think?  ;)

Just sounds like you’re blowing your own trumpet Gold, or patting yourself on the back or just thinking to yourself that you’re so wonderful because you did something for free without any selfish intensions.

Even though you did initially think this old lady was a cheeky mare, your guilty conscience got the better of you (for a moment) when you realised she is probably a very lovely old lady. But still you just couldn’t help yourself and robbed this lovely old lady of her chocolate rolls & now go back regular to take money from her, shame on you Gold.

Very good, Ewan!  ;D
