If you choose the "healthy home" option .
-
Jason - just type the web address so we can click and link - I think it works these days.

I tried just having a kitchen cleaned, that comes out at £100, adding a lounge takes it to £110 for a 'basic clean'. Obviously £100 minimum order. You could have around 3 small rooms done for that. Interesting tool, but I think a £100 minimum would not work in my area.
-
From the Chemdry form it worked out as £90 for the lounge healthy home package in the South manchester area.
Their prices actually seem very reasonable, suite clean £140, £175 including protection. Lounge carpet £60, £78 with protector. Cheaper than many of us anyway ;D
-
Hard to comment without knowing what was involved. I did one for £ 100 last week. I never thought I would say that when I started out.
-
HSL = £85 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
And that based on a min charge of £70
I have no doubt that price would increase on the day because whilst a staircase might be 13 steps, what is a standard hallway and landing?
-
We're all looking at the healthy home pack but I'd have thought that customers will look at the basic package and it looks cheap to me.
I just looked at a 3 seater fabric sofa and 2 chairs and it came out at £111.00

Shaun,
Using my postcode for the general clean of a 3 seater settee and 2 chairs it came to £175.00 ::)
Paul
-
It's very poor where I live :o
Didn't think they would hav different pricing structures for different areas.
Shaun
PS I'm goint to try it again
-
the dearer the better i say
derek
-
Must be knackered as I've just tried a 3 seater and a 2 seater in fabric and is says £175 but if I do 3 seater and 2 arm chairs it's £111.
try it yourself post code s7 2dt
also the contact telephone number is a local cd, I bet they have to subscribe to it.

Yes they have to "pay for the jobs" . The prices are different in different areas due to european price fixing laws .
-
Anyone think that people will pay these prices for a lounge ???
Lets be honest with this ;D
-
Is VAT on top?
Spot removal seems to be!
-
Its a great tool, £70.00 minimum charge stops time wasters and price shoppers.
-
Minimum charge for me £86.25!!!!!!!!
-
Basic clean 3 piece suite 3 seater sofa and 2 chairs £287.50
Healthy thing £431.25
Not a chance, make no wonder I never see them round here.

I went to a 4 bed detached house last week to do a quote for a general domestic clean and Chemdry were there with their latest truck mount.
Looked like they doing the whole house - upstairs drying and working on downstairs.
I never got asked to quote.
So someones paying Chemdry.

Chemdry get work from the full spectrum of marketing A - D's you will find them in Council housing schemes as well as the more up market estates.
Why?????
Because they've established a Brand and created an Image as a result they can ask for Premium prices and get them. No idea what their conversion rate is but I'd guess about 30%.
Can you emulate them.............no chance unless you have a massive marketing budget.
Why bother ! Your running costs should be less than half of theirs so you could be charging half their prices and get a lot more work. If you're a competent operator you will also be a lot quicker on the job so you will be / should be more profitable.
Decide on your main market sector, the system you intend using and learn about marketing focus on your plan, use your customers to develop your business.

As an ex Chem-dry operator , I can say you are right with the above, outrageous franchise fees, chemical and equipment costs , plus micro management of you means I am far better off financially ,socially , and will have a better business to sell as and when.
-
Also no one to answer too as well jason;D
-
I know many Chem Dry guys and believe me they are getting more and more work at top dollar. Good luck to them. Look out soon for their new TV adverts,
-
Minimum charge for me £86.25!!!!!!!!
min charge in my area £115
-
Look out soon for their new TV adverts,
That'll be the phones ringing for us too then ;D
I hire out static caravans on the coast and we get most of our Saturday evening phonecalls on the back of Haven advertising their holidays during that Primevil TV series.
-
They must have hundreds and hundreds of leads coming in every day. If that was your business and you were flat out, week in week out, would you still keep your prices the same?
-
All you can do is look at your own costs on how long it takes you to clean a suite by working out how much you would like to make per hour so if a suite takes you 3 hours to clean a suite and you would like to earn £50 per hour the cost of that suite would be £150.
Sorry about preaching to the converted but to any body else I hope this helps

Mark
Its a good reminder for us.
There are still jobs I do where I come away not hitting the hourly rate I want and ask myself.... where did I go wrong.
Mind you, some others make up for it ;D
-
Apart from the well known brand name what else have they got to offer.
They use TMs like the rest of us now.
Mark
-
Is there anything to stop you putting on a price comparison thing on your website then with their prices against your prices?
-
everybody sing now!
"compare the carpet.......... dot com" ;D
derek
-
Simplz ;D
-
A quotation form will be on my site as soon as possible , nowt wrong with a bit of benchmarking!
-
As long as your prices are top end and you do a top end job, you won't be getting enquiries from people who want the job done for nowt!
Good ridance to the price shopper ;D
-
i love price shoppers, making them see the errors of there ways is a challenge i rellish.
converted a few, not all though.
"are you just trying to get the cheapest price or do you want a proper job doing?" thats usually my opener.
i don't bother on end of tenancy's though, they don't give a poo what it turns out like as long as theyve got a receipt.
quoted against a local cowboy last wednesday, doing the job tuesday, "oh yeah"
always thinking!
derek
-
I get a lot of EOT cleans, I like them :D and I give them a extra big reciept to show the letting agent they've had the carpets cleaned.
always tell them its cash on completion, no cheques.
around here they can be paying £700 a month rent..... with a month and a half deposit, they will happily pay my prices if it means they get there money back.
-
Like that quote Derek, am always trying to think of something when I know
there looking for cheap.
Round here the tell tale sign is the accent, if it's the bank call centre accent you know
it's the cheapest quote there looking for so I just bang the price up and if they
go for it bingo.
Don't particularly like working for them anyway as they always want more doing when
you get there for the same price.
"Can you just do the stairs as well while your here it will only take you 2 mins"
John

its quite possible to have different prices for different clients, we do it all the time.
we do a lot of eot but dont charge the same prices as when we do the country manor type places.
obvioulsy tenants dont require the same level of service compared to those who have spent thousands
on furnishing there homes.
We have a few well to do clients that would be horrified and insulted if they paid what we charged our
normal around town clients, and vice versa.
The fact is we still like having the tenants and landlord types as it makes up half of our work and keeps
us busy all year long.
Sometimes we have to get away from the notion we have to charge all the same price, each job is
different and i believe it should be approached that way.

steve

Hi Guys
Chemdry are good because they help keep prices up and allow us to make a good living, while producing excellent results with top quality equipment.
As for different prices it is just normal business practice with many factors affecting what one charges.
Cheers
